chapter 10
Shopping had been fun. Mourn always had good taste, and apparently, so did Liam. We were coming home with so many bags, I was glad that there were three walk in closets. Three! It was amazing.
The boys picked out things for themselves, nice things that looked incredibly good on them, and would hide their weaponry well. The car we took from my uncles huge ass garage was barely big enough for all the things we bought.
"I'd forgotten what it was like to be able to actually afford real things." I sighed as I turned the wheel. Liam had offered to drive, but I declined. Mourn knew how much I love to drive, so he didn't even bother. "That was great." We had eaten, an expensive steakhouse that served the best meat outside of my fathers own steaks. Mourn, riding shotgun, smiled at me, a sardonic twist of lips.
"Hey, when you've had to go hungry because you can't even afford top ramen, then you can scoff." My tone was light dispite the implications of the statement. Taking greyhound across country, and begging for money when you got off so you could eat was not fun.
"You're right, I am sorry." His smile became playful. Bastard was teasing me.
"Fuck off."
"As you wish."
That bugged me more than him teasing me. I twisted in the seat, not sure if I should be pissed or not. That very thought was enough, and I was pissed. I scowled. "You always manage to do that."
"Annoying, isn't it?"
My scowl deepened. He knew how it would affect me.
"You are a real bastard."
He bowed as much as the seatbelt allowed. "It is comforting to know that even a queen, or a future one, as it stands, can get pissy."
I hated that phrase. A lot. Another thing he knew about me. "One more crack and I'm tossing you out of the goddamn car."
Mourn shut up. I was glad. He tended to exploit my generally volatile nature, and loved every minute of it.
"So, Liam, what did you think of today?" I was hell bound to recover my happy mood, and had almost forgotten about Liam in the back with the rest of the bags. Oops.
Liam snorted. "I normally do not enjoy shopping, but I must admit that I had fun today."
"I'm glad."
The rest of the car ride was pretty quiet. Liam never did talk a lot, from what little I knew of him, and Mourn, well Mourn liked the sound of his own voice, but loved pissing me off more. I knew he would probably be quiet for ahwile, now that he had his "fix".
A dragon with short blond hair and white eyes helped us get all our bags to our room. It took him the trip with us, plus an additional trip, to get them all. Not that they were heavy, there were just so many of them.
Once all the bags were up, I happily began to put all my clothes away in my closet, as did Liam. Suprisingly, Mourn put his away too. Normally he would just let them sit in the bag until he wore them.
"You're actually putting your clothes away?" I could barely keep the suprise out of my voice. Liam snickered. I thought Mourn was ignoring me unitl he turned, shirt in one hand, a hanger in the other, and smiled.
"Yes, I am."
"Why?" I put away the pants I had been holding and reached for the last blouse, still watching Mourn. He shrugged.
"Seems like a good idea to me."
I stopped mid-motion, my eyebrow raised. "Really?" My tone was droll.
"Yes, really." Mourn ignored my expression, pretending to be obsorbed in putting his share of clothes away. I shook my head and hung up my last blouse. I would get nowhere with him. He knew how to push my buttons, but I knew nothing about pushing his. I didn't want to drop it, but I did.
A knock sounded at the door just as I was sitting down in one of the many chairs our rooms held. I frowned and stood, motioning the door open.
A tall, broadshoulderan san stood on the other side, face blank. He was standing next to Mark, the dragon guard. A thin, small man with black darting eyes stood behind them.
"Hello, Mark."
Mark cleared his throat. "This is Lord Collin. Stephen thinks he would make a good father."
I sighed. "Tell the king that I want to meet these men he keeps sending to my door before they show up, expecting nookie."
Mark looked umcomfortable. "Yes, my princess." He bowed deeply, and back away. Motioning for Collin and his bodyguard to come in, I shut the door behind us.
Collin was handsome. Short cropped jet black hair and a neatly kept goatee, with pale, pale green eyes the color of a really good paridot. He smiled slghtly and picked up my hand, kissing it. "You are more beautiful than my king has led to me believe."
I blushed, I didn't know why. "Thank you." My eyes flicked to Mourn and Liam, who had taken seats in the outer room. I took Collin's hand and led him into the bedroom. the door swung shut behind him.
I was suddenly nervous. Sure, I knew that Liam and Mourn didn't mind me having sex with other people to get pregnant (god, they were accepting), but I felt...weird...doing it with them in the other room. My face must have shown my thoughts, because Collin laughed.
"The rooms are soundproof."
"Ah."
Collin smiled at me,a real smile, and leaned in to kiss me, or so I thought. His lips brushed my chin, nipping slightly before moving lower. His hands slid under my shirt, lightly scratching my abdomen. I sighed and leaned my head back as he continued down to my neck, where he did bite. I gasped and gripped his arms. Collin broke free of my grasp and lifted me onto the bed, quickly pinning me. He bit my neck again, and my fingers dug itno his back. My nails were thick enough, however, that I didn't break the skin.
I was suddenly aware that I was clad only in my bra and panties, and that Collin was working to get the latter off of me. I reached down and helped him get them off. He quickly stripped and lay back on top of me. Grinning once, he sheathed himself inside me.
My back arched off the bed, and I moaned as he started to slam into me. I needed it, I needed to be close to feed...
Feed what? I shook my head, coming back to myself. I was confused. I was having sex, not deciding what to eat. My skin felt hot, too tight, too constricting. Collin was grinning, his pupils slits. Gasping, I tried to push him off me, even as my body screamed no. I wanted him to finish wha we had started, but I knew it wasd a bad idea, a very bad one.
Collin tried to pin me, but I was faster. I rolled off the bed and came up into a fighting stance. "Get the hell out." What I wanted to say was, keep on going, take me, but I didn't he was trying to call my dragon, trying to get me to slip my skin. "Get the fuck out, now!!" I picked up the chair the sat next to the desk and hurled it at him. Collin ducked. It hit the wall behind him, one leg breaking as it hit. I screamed in rage and stalked out of the bedroom, still naked. "Get the fuck out, Collin, before I rip you into goddamn pieces!"
Mourn and Liam stood as I came out. Mourn had a gun out. Liam came towards me, slowly. "What happened, Angela?"
I shook my head, still riding the scalding wave of power. "He...he tried to get me to slip my skin."
Collin came towards me, hands held out in supplication. "I am sorry, princess."
"Like hell you are." My fists were back up, my feet balanced for a kick, if I needed to. I didn't like him. He gave me the creeps. "Just get the hell out."
His eyes flicked to Mourn, to Liam, and the to me. He bowed, mockingly. "As my princess wishes." He simply stalked past, still naked and walked out the door with his guard. My arms were shaking, I was so pissed. "Dammit. I have to go talk to my uncle about this shit."
Liam patted my shoulder. "Yes, you do. Go get dressed. We need to talk to him now."
I nodded, my anger seeping away. "Yes, we do." I gave Liam a random hug. "Thanks for supporting me."
Mourn was the one who answered. "We will always be there, Angela. Now go get dressed."
Better advice I have yet to hear.
