Prologue
Awakening
By Nico
Content/Rating: NC-17 for pure smut.
Summary: An uptight businesswoman finds lust, not love, with a coworker who just won’t take no for an answer.
WARNING: NON-CON.
Author’s note: This story is just for fun—it in no way condones rape or sexual harassment in the workplace. Please don’t read if you will be offended. Also this is my first stab at erotica, so…no flames.
Awakening
Prologue
Lena Blackwell was one of those people sometimes referred to as a “superwoman.” She didn’t like the term; it insinuated masculinity or aggressiveness, she thought, not strength. Despite her views on it, however, it was a term that suited her well. She was a superwoman, capable of doing just about anything—and doing it without help, thank you very much. Her entire life said as much. At sixteen, Lena had graduated high school—not only graduated but as valedictorian and as the first student in school history to get a perfect score on her SATs. She had been accepted into both Harvard and Yale, and she chose Harvard because, in her mind at least, it was the best. At Harvard, she successfully juggled a full course load and a very active political life. By taking extra classes in the summer months, she managed to obtain a master’s degree in business in just four years. Once again, she graduated top of her class. By twenty-one she was out on her own in the working world. Several big places had offered her jobs, but because she was so young, they all wanted to start her out in small, low-paying positions. She didn’t mind entry-level work, but she would not lower her standards to being a glorified intern. Instead, she took a bigger job at a smaller place, established a reputation, and waited. In just a year or so, the big places were more than willing to take her on. Not entry level this time, but real jobs.
She took a position in an ad agency—one of the biggest and best in the country. At first, her clients consisted on small businesses with smaller budgets, but in time, the higher-up noticed her talent and ability and began to assign her cases of more importance. In just a few years, she was widely acknowledged as New York’s best and people came from all over just to see her. At twenty-six, she had a corner office, a six-figure salary, and an elegant penthouse. It was rum she she would run the company by the time she was forty. She seemed to have everything.
She did not have a man in her life. Being a career woman, marriage was of little importance to her. However, sometimes she thought it would be nice to have someone to spend time with in the rare hours she wasn’t working. Sometimes she wondered why everything else came so easily to her and relationships rarely came at all. It wasn’t that she wasn’t an attractive woman. Lena knew she was well beyond what most people would consider beautiful. She worked very hard to stay slim and fit, and she was always immaculately groomed. True, her sleek blond hair was usually pulled into a French knot to keep it out of her face during the day, and her large blue eyes were more often than not concealed behind the frames of her reading glasses, but still, she was attractive. Men often looked at her with appreciation.
Getting them to look was easy, but what came after…well, that was different. Lena knew why she couldn’t keep a man. She didn’t enjoy sex. She didn’t even enjoy it a little bit, and this was why men grew so cool to her so quickly. It had always been that way, ever since her first time, at aged seventeen. No matter whom she was with or what he was doing, Lena simply could not enjoy it. Other women might have fretted over this, wondering if some hidden medical or psychological condition accounted for the lack of libido. Other women would bemoan what they were missing and consult doctors and therapists in an effort to solve the problem. Not Lena, however, she simply shrugged it off and went on with her life.
It wasn’t that Lena was not interested in men—she was. She was often attracted or aroused by them and many times, she went to bed with them expecting the fireworks and excitement they seemed to feel. But it never happened. Not once in over a dozen times had she even come close to feeling what those sweaty, groaning men had. So after a time, she gave it up for a lost cause. After all, there were plenty of more satisfactory ways to spend her time.
Or so she thought anyway.
