Dark Obsession

Prologue

 

Five.  Only five throughout the world.  It had always been that way, ever since the beginning of time.  The Normal's; The Ancient's; The Born's; The Hybrid's; The Rogue's.  These were the five different clans of vampires.  Although many never quite understood the human race, they wanted to live amongst them, protecting and guiding all humanity.  

 

However, some were different, believing mortals as nothing more than cattle.  These vampires would capture humans, torture them, turn them into slaves for their enjoyment.  Once they tired of them, they were drained dry of their blood, brutally.

 

The identity of all vampires was kept a secret for a reason.  And they made certain no mortal survived if they ever unlocked their secret.  If such an instance happened they were either slaughtered, used as a donor, or turned into a vampire themselves.  They would, then, be forced to become part of the Normal clan.

 

The Ancient's, Hybrid's, Born's, and Normal's had very protective tendencies toward humans.  Respecting mortals lives, they received their blood from blood banks.  They were very strict when it came to maintaining the balance.

 

The only way to decipher which clan was which was to look at the tattoo on the back of their neck.  Each one had different designs and symbols.

 

The Normal's tattoo was of a bleeding vampire bite.  They were a group of vampires who were bitten and turned into a creature of the night.  They were capable of climbing the sides of buildings and other structures, as well as making themselves invisible, kind of like camouflage.

 

The Hybrid's, half vampire and half elemental, had a waxing crescent moon with a star beside it.  They had control over one or more of the many elements; fire, earth, water, wind, and spirit.

 

An Ancient's tattoo was of a red cross outlined in black.  With extreme inhuman strength and lots of psychic energy, the Ancient's always seemed to have the upper hand, the advantage, when a fight or battle commenced.  Someone had to keep the mortals safe from the evil creatures out in the world.  And they volunteered their services without question.

 

The Born clan had a black bat.  These vampires were born immortal and had a certain special powers.  They were known for their inhuman speed.  A Born also had the ability to transform themselves into any animal.

 

The Rogue's had the black bat; the bleeding vampire bite; the waxing crescent, followed by a star; or a red cross outlined in black.  They were simply a group of vampires who were banished from their clan due to breaking the vampire laws, which was called, the Order.

 

As life goes for anyone, there are always those who rebel against their leaders.  Vampires were no different.  Rogue's bucked the system and the rules concerning humans.

 

Mortals were only food to them.  Meant to be tortured, taunted, played with as pets, and made into slaves.  Rogue's had the power to place their pray under a deep trance.   They would abduct them and feast one their blood, leaving very few alive.  They had ravenous appetites and were gluttons. 

 

Also, they released potent pheromones to render the victim helpless.  Seers were always in danger due to a Rogue's hormonal essence.  It, in a sense, bound them to the vampire.  They craved their touch, taste, dominance.

 

Each clan shared eye colors.  The Normal's had emerald irises, much like freshly cut green grass.  A Hybrid's eye color depended on their element.  If it was fire, they were yellow or orange; earth, light brown or black; water, indigo or green; wind, silver or purple; spirit, ice blue or lavender.  The Born clan had black eyes and the Ancient clan had purple.  

 

That applied to all clans but one.  Rogue's were the only clan with irises the color of blood.  Once a vampire is banished from their original clan their eyes automatically change to red due to the evil intentions inside of them.  And they had to go against the Order to be kick out.  

 

Now, there was always one leader to each clan.  These five special vampires were labeled as an elder.  They had to keep the ones in their clan in line.  Every year the five of them would have a meeting.  And they always ended the same way, in an intense argument over the protection of humans.

 

Although no mortal was allowed to know about the vampires, one particular human ended up meeting all five clans.  A young woman named Destiny Marie Thomas. 

 

Even after she found out they existed, four elders took turns watching over her, ensuring her safety.  The elders of the Normal, Ancient, Hybrid, and Born clan.  

 

The elder of the Rogue's had a different plan for her.  He lusted after her in many ways.

 

Some say luck was on Destiny's side, however.  And others say that one of the four elder's, who vowed to protect her, fell in love with her.  Only she knew the real reason why.  This is her tale.
