El Conejo Timido

El Conejo Timido

Ch.1: The Master

Alvino was nervous today. The Sales Man had been trying to sell him for awhile now, but no one had bought the rabbit. He was rare, the fur on his ears and bushy tail were white, along with the hair on his head. Hence his name Alvino, which meant white or fair. His skin was tan, from his Spanish heritage and his eyes a beautiful green; so said the Sales Man whenever he tried to sale the rabbit boy off.

So far the last two cities had not taken him and the Sales Man had threatened to do away with Alvino if he wasn’t sold today.

“Act your best, and flaunt a little! If you don’t get sold today, I will take you back to Ivan!” The Sales Man hissed harshly as he placed the shackles on the boys hands, feet, and neck.

The shackles were always heavy, the chains connected to the wall behind him seemed to weight him down. How was he supposed to look appealing when he felt so awful. But he didn’t want to go back to Ivan. The man was German and very sadistic. He was lucky to get away from him the first time. It would be difficult for him to get away a second time.

A man was talking with the Sales man, Alvino noticed, and they were pointing at him. The man looked scary, with scars adorning his face and evil eyes. The rabbit shuddered to think he was going to be sold to the man. The two men walked over to Alvino, the Sales Man throwing his usual pitch.

“He is very good at listening and innocent as well, untouched. Not only that he is one of the rare, white rabbits.” Alvino tried to ignore the Sales man as he showed him off, turning him this way and that.

“How much for him?” The evil man asked and Alvino’s eyes widened.

No he didn’t want to be sold to this man! The evil man reached out to him as they began to bargain for a price. As the hand inched closer to Alvino’s arm, the rabbit backed away until he unfortunately ran into someone behind him in the large crowd of the market.

Alvino froze in fear and quickly turned around to see ice blue eyes glaring at him as a tall woman looked down at him. She was dressed elegantly: Her dress was a beautiful green made of silk it seemed, her hair was dark as night and tied into a tight bun on top of her head where a jade pendant held it up. Her skin was pale, signs of royalty and a life indoors.

Everything froze around Alvino and the Sales Man rushed up to shove Alvino away from the woman. “I apologize, my lady! If there is anything I can do…”

The woman held up her hand. “Silence commoner.” She said in a frightening demanding tone, “Give me the rabbit, and I will offer no punishment.”

There was more silence, and Alvino thought that the Sales Man would argue, but he didn’t. He nodded to the woman with a bow, released Alvino and gave the woman the white rabbit’s leash.

Alvino followed beside the woman as she walked forward, almost as if Alvino wasn’t there. What just happened?! He was about to be sold to some evil man but instead was GIVEN to a strange, rich, woman? Who was she and why was she so highly feared? Alvino’s eyes widened as they arrived at the woman’s house, no, mansion: its Victorian style was shown in its white color and tall columns, the shutters and frames of the house decorated with a dark bluish black color. The porch rapped around the house, its color the same dark blue as the shutters. They walked up three steps and to a large wooden door. The golden door knobs decorated intricately with tiny designs…

“Open it, rabbit.” Demanded the woman with hardly any emotion, but her presence screamed for him to obey or pay the price.

Alvino nodded and opened the door for the woman before walking in behind her. She stopped and took off his leash, but he dared not to runaway from the woman.

She frowned at him, her icy blue eyes almost burning him, he turned his gaze away from her to stare at the polished floors. “You are filthily.” She stated with disgust, “Come, you need to be washed.”

He nodded and followed her up another set of stairs that lead to the upper floor and to a room with a large tub. For a moment Alvino was afraid that the woman was going to watch him, but to his relief it didn’t seem so.

“I assume that you know how to wash your own body, so I will leave you to do that chore. The towel you are to use is over here,” She pointed to the white tiled wall that held an older looking towel. “Once you are cleaned up, put on this tunic and meet me down stairs.”

She placed a dark green tunic on the counter next to the wall where the towel hung before leaving the bathroom. Alvino was still confused by what had all just happened, but…

He turned to the tub and started the warm water, a nice hot bath was a luxury to anyone no and days, so Alvino wasn’t really complaining. As Alvino slipped into the warm liquid he couldn’t help but sigh happily. Maybe things weren’t so bad; if anything they at least got better than before.

Alvino was pleased after his bath once the mirror showed that his slightly off white hair was as pure as snow now that it was cleaned. He slipped the tunic over his head and straightened out the fabric which happened to be very soft. The tunic was like others he had seen and actually ended above his knees. Once he was completely dried off he walked out of the bathroom and downstairs.

It wasn’t hard to find the woman since the downstairs level had no closed off rooms. Alvino turned from the foyer to the kitchen where the woman sat sipping some tea. She turned to look at him as he entered the room. Her gaze moved from his floppy white ears down to his bare feet and up again to meet his green gaze. Alvino looked away quickly a light blush of his face from the stare.

“Come and sit, rabbit, we have things to discuss.” She said and pointed to a chair that sat next to her.

Alvino nodded and talked over to the wooden table and took his set. He felt small sitting next to the tall woman. She pored some tea into a small cup, handing it to him before taking a sip of her own and starting the conversation.

“First I would like it if you addressed me with yes or no ma’am instead of just nodding.”

Alvino almost nodded before stopping himself, “Y-yes Ma’am.”

“And second, I had not planned on buying you. I have never had a ‘slave’ or ‘pet’ but my brother has so I understand the just of it. You will help me around the house doing chores, if I find something unsatisfactory I will tell you once to fix it, if you continue to mess up there will be punishment. Any questions?”

“Do you plan on ‘using’ me?” He asked shyly.

The woman stared at him for a moment before a blush developed on her face, thus causing one to appear on his. “Not at the moment.”

Alvino looked down at his tea and decided to pick it up and take a sip. It was delicious. He looked up once again as she began to speak.

“I phoned my brother as you were bathing, he will be over with his cat Felix in a few minuets.”
