Song of the Lover and the Lonely
Every romance story has a similar tale: of one who doesn't expect
the love they find.
Ch.1:The First Night
Amber ran, and ran fast. Although it was a bit hard to see the person ahead of her, she followed who she knew to be a good friend. Her hair was dyed blond and though she walked at a slow pace, she was far ahead of her, and was now crossing the road.
"Wait." She said breathily, trying as hard as possible to keep running for her legs were growing stiff and numb. As Amber crossed the road, horns of speeding cars honked at her, barely missing the human deer in the head lights. She wasn't getting any closer, and she could barely breathe.
"JESSICA WAIT!!"
The girl ahead stopped and turned around to face her, right as Amber’s legs gave and she fell softly onto a grassy lawn beside her friend. The shadow of her said friend fell over her body. Amber gazed up to see her friends smiling concerned face, and she joined her friend on the ground. Soon, Jessica's head lay next to Amber‘s.
"I missed you."
Amber lifted her hand and ran her hands through the older girl's hair.
"I missed you to."
Getting up off the grass and walking again, Amber followed Jessica. "You going home?"
Jessica shook her head no. "I'm heading to my house, the one I bought."
Amber laughed, "You have your own house, I thought you still lived in an apartments."
Jessica turned onto a lawn of a very large home and Amber stopped to look at the large two story mansion: The lawn was greener than any other, the windows of the house were blacked out and to say the least, it was huge! “Are you boarding people?”
Jessica just smiled as she turned to look at Amber, then she continued on to the house.
“Um, Jessica?”
“Yes, you and a few others. But there are seven more rooms vacant, of course I plan to use them for more than just bed rooms.” Jessica said before opening the door to the house.
Amber nodded then paused, “Wait, me? I never asked you-”
Jessica turned to her friend once again before entering the house, “Not yet. I knew you were going to. But I didn’t predict your arrival so early.”
They talked while going through corridors to what Amber guest lead to her designated room, “You enhanced your powers?”
“You could say that but not exactly.” Jessica opened the door to the said room.
“Oh, keeping your vampirism to your self huh?” Amber asked as she walked in.
“You catch on quickly! Ha, you haven’t changed a bit since we last separated. Here is your room, mine is down stairs on your left.” Jessica turned to leave.
“But-” Started Amber but was interrupted by the psychic.
“Meet me in my room after you get settled.”
Amber frowned as the door closed, “Oh, ok.”
The room was to her liking: Dark blues and pale purples colored the room; it had a canape bed and a dressure with a turning mirror; silk curtains hung over the one window that wasn’t blacked out. Jessica, hell, everyone knew a human couldn’t go to long without sun light. Even some vampires couldn’t deal without feeling the warmth of its golden rays on their cold skin. After admiring her room she started to head down stairs toward Jessica’s room.
Amber only stopped when she passed a door, hearing voices behind it. It was a woman’s and she was talking to a male:
“…saw her.” Said the woman.
“How could Jessica do this!? Bringing a human into this house is like a death wish!” Said the man.
“She’s Jessica’s only family, even though she isn’t biologically related. Have you seen her lately? Moping about the house like a kid who lost its doll, maybe this human will lift her spirits.”
“I’m not going to harm the human. I’m just concerned. Did you even chance to think about what Dunkin might do to her?”
Amber got chills from hearing the conversation and decided it was best she headed down stairs, before she was caught eavesdropping.
Once Amber found Jessica’s room she was met with her friend, holding a dress. She looked at it quizzically, “And what is this for?”
“I want you to meet everyone tonight, and since it is almost six o’clock, you should be getting dressed!” She proclaimed excitedly.
Amber stepped into the room as Jessica closed the door. After much struggling, arguing, and a couple of curses, Jessica had Amber dressed the way she had envisioned.
Amber stood in front of a tall mirror and fidgeted. “I-I don’t know…”
“You look fine.” She admired. “Really! Hell, you look so beautiful I could just eat you up!”
Amber looked at her self and the dress she was in: The black dress had frilly sleeves that hung loosely on her shoulders and down to her elbows like water, at the bottom it fell in a similar fashion ending at her calf, cut into strips for a good spinning affect; in the middle of her torso was a light blue corset with dark blue strings going up her front instead of her back.
Her long coffee colored hair was pulled up in a bun with her bangs falling down to caress her cheeks on either side of her face. It had two white plastic lilly’s pinned in her bun that had silver glitter on them.
Jessica insisted that for her eyes shw wear similar glitter and cover her eyes with black eye liner to bring out her light blue eyes.
“Are you ready?” Jessica inquired as she opened the door.
Amber nodded, “Lets get this over with.”
