Healing the Angel

*Chapter One*

“Hey, what was our homework?” the sweet voice that plagued my dreams asked.

I turned to the stunning redhead beside me and smiled at her. “Read the chapter and write a page about your reactions to it.”

She smiled at me and nodded. “Thank you.”

She turned and left and I let out a sigh, watching her glide effortlessly through the hallways. I groaned.

“Hey, get your eyes off the girl’s ass and pay attention to me,” my best friend snapped.

I turned to him and smiled apologetically. “Sorry, Luke.”

He sighed. “Jesus, Jo. The girl doesn’t even realize that you like her. And she has a boyfriend.”

I made a pouty face and sighed. “Yeah, you’re right. So, you ready to drive me home?”

He nodded and threw an arm around my shoulder. “Let’s go, kid.”

We walked out of the school and into the snowy parking lot. I glanced up at him and then grinned deviously.

“Race you to the car?” I challenged.

He opened his mouth but I ran off before he could answer. I heard him come after me and sped up. I saw his beat up old car and whooped. I tried to slow down, but slid on the ice and slammed into the car. Luke ran into me and I groaned and shoved him off.

“Beat ya,” I said and stuck my tongue out at him.

He pinched my cheeks and then climbed into the driver’s seat. We took off, talking about the new rules the principal had imposed and the weekend coming up. He dropped me off at my house and I wandered in it, wincing at the screeching pop music blaring from my little sister’s room. I carefully avoided it and went into the kitchen. I grabbed a few snacks from the cabinet and then went up to my room. I closed the door, locked it, and turned up my music. I took off my shirt and laid on my bed.

“I wonder what she’s doing?” I pondered aloud.

Lisette Cantare. That girl is my obsession, my curse. She is a petite little beauty with wicked curves and creamy white skin like a lotus petal. She has long, fiery red hair and amazing emerald eyes that fade to a gray as they near the pupil. Around the pupil is a halo of gold with flecks of bright orange running through it. Those eyes are mesmerizing. They haunt me at night, dance in my dreams. Those eyes...every time they meet mine, every time they pass over me, study me...it sends a shiver up my spine and stirs up feelings deep in my body. And her voice, which can be the sweetest sound in the world when she’s happy and the most frigid, cutting sound when she’s angry, can make me melt like ice cream in the summer. I want her, I crave her. If I could have just one kiss from that beautiful little girl, I would be set for life.

A groan came from me and I rolled over. It was going to be a long afternoon.
