INTRODUCTION to Twisted World
There were several land masses and peoples on Twisted World, all who hated each other and were suspicious of all but their own.
Yet their world thrived in trade and commerce. Outlanders were not trusted in the main, but trade was trade. Each needed the others to survive. No one land mass held all that was required to live comfortably.
The biggest held the feared self styled OverLord of Twisted World, who actually held sway over the peoples of the Northern Waste and the Southern Mists of ‘OverLand’. In the middle lay a ‘no man’s land’ of high peaks and deep valleys, home to a people of magics who answered to none but themselves.
South of OverLand lay a string of five fair sized islands; with peoples of all kinds that were loosely held together by an Islands’ Board on the furthest. All counted their continuing freedom from Overland more than a blessing. Slender bridges of crystal white spanned the short sea lanes between them - that the distance to Overland could not be bridged was their salvation.
Three other civilisations lay around the globe, before the Great Narrow Ocean led back to OverLand.
All civilisations were a curious mixture of ancient and modern. The last millennium had seen total conflict when the OverLord of the time had waged war to gain supremacy over the World. Technology was back to infancy levels, but weaponry now ranged from stones and spears to guns and cannons. No nukes remained; two dead land masses were permanent reminders of what had happened to the civilisations that were once threats to OverLord.
And each people - Men, Elves, Magii, Animaii, all had their own Mutants. Many had their own ‘talents’ that could be called magical, but were kept secret because they were considered abnormal and shameful in their own lands.
Chapter title does say introduction - so please bear with me, it moves from here on in! And p l e a s e dont forget to comment!
