Lust
Scarlet waited patently behind Tanya and Kain as they knocked on the Fleches’s door. It was opened after a few seconds by a cute boy with amazing brown eyes. The boy smiled at the Sonte clan and ushered them into his very large house. He led them to a living room where four other boys were waiting.
Scarlet could feel the boys’ eyes on her as she stood between Tanya and Kain but she ignored them and didn’t look at them.
“Good day, dear kitsune,” the cute boy said in a laid back, stoner voice. “We’re so happy to have you as neighbors. I am Felix Fleches.”
Tanya smiled and nodded. “Well met, blutalkoholiker. I am Tanya Sonte, the leader of this clan along with my mate Kain.” Scarlet beat down a yawn. Tanya glanced down at her and then smiled at Felix. “Do you mind if we revert to our original forms?”
“No prob,” he told her.
The Sonte clan sighed happily as they released the magic that was hiding their ears and precious tails.
“What? No strange vulpine creatures? No hoshi no tama?” Felix asked with a grin.
Scarlet rolled her eyes. “You did your research, but sadly you are mistaken. We have no hoshi no tama. And we only turn into fox when we are severely weakened. The folk tales were wrong about that part.”
“Ah. And what’s your name, Miss Eight Tales?” Felix asked.
“Scarlet,” she said in an annoyed tone.
“And the rest of your clan?” he asked, casting a look at the four other kitsune.
“Rose.”
“Lily.”
“Daniel.”
“Damien.”
Felix nodded. “Now I’ll let my clan introduce themselves.”
Scarlet finally looked at the boys. They were gorgeous, of course, and she felt a sudden wave of lust come over her. She kept her face composed carefully as they introduced themselves.
“I’m Scott,” a tall boy with shaggy black hair, green eyes, and wonderfully tan skin said.
“Jaden,” said a boy with dark brown Frodo hair and black eyes.
“I’m Leo,” a handsome blond boy with baby blue eyes that were trained on Scarlet said.
“I am Alec,” a tall boy with skin the pure white color of bones said softly. He had the most amazing and beautiful blue eyes Scarlet had ever seen in her 8, 999 long years and hair the color of a freshly polished cello. She decided that he was the most handsome of the vampires and vowed to get to know him better.
“Well, now that we’ve all met,” Felix said, “let’s talk business. Whose going to high school and whose going to college?”
“I’m the only one going to college,” Tanya said in her quiet voice. “The rest are going to Kale High as juniors.”
“Same here,” Felix said and yawned.
“Will we encounter any problems?” Kain asked, his normally happy brown eyes troubled.
“Not really. Kale is a community firmly planted in modern Christian beliefs. We’re safe as long as we don’t flaunt our true selves,” Felix assured him.
Tanya nodded and glanced at the other vampires. “Good. It looks as if some of the boys are hungry. We’ll leave you be.”
The Sonte family hid their ears and tails and then left the house and walked across the street to theirs. The Fleches clan looked at each other and grinned.
“I think I’m in love,” Scott said with a happy sigh.
“Ditto,” Jaden agreed with a grin.
“Totally,” Leo said and laughed. “That Scarlet girl is a little hottie.”
“What do you think, Alec?” Felix asked.
Alec jerked and shook his head. “Sorry. What was the question?”
“What do you think of our new neighbors?” Felix asked slowly and rapped him lightly on the head.
“They seem nice,” Alec muttered, trying not to blush.
He had been in fact thinking about their neighbors. Well, one of them at least. The kitsune named Scarlet. She was one of the loveliest creatures he had ever seen. She had wild black haired that reached her lower black in glossy, rebellious waves. She had penetrating icy blue, almond shaped eyes with long lashes and full red lips that stood out delightfully against her perfect moon tinted skin. She was slender with belly dancer hips and admirable breasts. Her cheekbones were high and proud, better than any model’s. Her neck was elegant and tempting. Alec was already half in love with her.
“They ‘seem nice’?” Leo snorted. “Dude. They’re freaking hot. You can’t tell me that you don’t agree.”
“I never said that I didn’t agree,” Alec said irritably.
“Stop pestering, Leo,” Felix told him with a sigh. “Come on. Get ready to hunt.”
Scarlet walked into her new room and locked the door behind her. She changed into a short, silky, gold nightgown and crawled under her covers. She snapped her fingers and her light went off and her curtains flew open. Scarlet stared out at the bright sliver of moon hanging in the sky and sighed.
She had missed the moon for a while. In the last place they had lived in, lights and tall buildings had blocked out the beautiful moon. Here, the houses were low and pleasant. The air was crisp and there was nothing in the way of her sky gazing.
Scarlet finally rolled over and she shut her eyes. Sleep came to her quickly.
