Blinding light, He didn't know what had just happened. A burning pain in the side of his head. The light began to dim and the world around him came to him slowly. His vision was blurry, what had happened? Sitting up, a groan of pain escaped him, He thought back to the most recent memories that he could recollect.
Slowly images started forming as he tried to remember, there was a lot of fire, He wasn't he recalled the feeling of adrenaline washing over him, eyes fixated on the gates to the city, waiting for the invading army to break through, he took a defensive stance and reached for his sword.
A voice threw him back to reality "Everrath?"
"Is that you Tekiri?" he replied his vision still not fully recovered
"Yes, how are you feeling?" she asked him his eyes refocusing to see the worry in her eyes.
"I've Had a lot worse" he stated weakly, His voice cracking, His mouth was so dry
She looked at him confusion showing on her face "I am surprised that you are even able to speak after the hits you took let alone say that you've seen worse days"
He took a minute it hurt to move as he lifted his arm to point to a dark scar that streched from the top of one cheek bone down to his lower jaw near it's hinge "that's proof that I have seen worse" his voice was still weak it hurt to talk "What happened anyway? All I can remember is getting ready to pull my sword then nothing"
She looked away and started recounting the recent events.
*flashback*
She stood behind her only friend in this god forsaken city, she knew many people but didn't trust any of them she watched the tall man almost 6'2 start to crouch, He was tall not very broad though. His features amaciated he always looked as though he hadn't eaten in days the truth of the matter that he ate more than anyone else she knew. His outfit loose a rather heavy looking leather vest, hardened leather had always been his style, stained with blood from previous battles, Many knicks always indicated that he had fought a lot more than he let on to anyone here, A long flowing coat covered most of it, the front of the coat open. She never could figure out why he wore that thing
She put her hand on her own weapon, fairly long blade, somewhere between a dagger and a very short sword it was all she ever needed, her left hand pulled out a smaller dagger. Ready now for the oncoming fight she waited watching her friend. Her eyes wandered looking over his features.
With a loud crash the gates burst open, she watched everrath pull his sword and wait. she stepped forward waiting for the most opertune moment to make her move, Everrath never was patient he charged the enemy head on without delay, this was perfect for her though. He kept them distracted while she picked them off before they noticed she was even there. He locked swords with the first of them. She darted in pushing her knife deep between his ribs the soldiers face distorted in pain he fell to the ground with a loud scream, at the same moment her off hand came up to block a second attackers sword with her dagger pushing his blade off to the side then rolling inside his outstretched arm slicing his throat as she passed. Her fighting was an intricate dance blocking with her dagger attacking with her longer knife, swaying and turning constantly.
She looked back to see her friend in trouble she quickly tried to get back to protect him the ground already littered with bodies of the men she had killed, she fought trying to get to him he parried one mans axe, then brought up his arm to knock another mans sword away with his armguards. She sliced into the mans back with a very percise hit dropping the swordsman in an instant, but before she could even yell a warning another man attacked her friend from his other side, a Heavy mace cracked agains his skull his eyes faded and he fell to the ground. Everything from there out was a blur as she fought off attackers picked up his body *You need to be more careful or you'll get yourself killed* the thought made her cringe she hated the thought of losing her only friend *We need to get out of her* the thought was interupted instict brought her dagger to block just barely making it in time, she Broke a gap through the line of enemies that had flanked her and ran.
Running she tried to hold back the thoughts that ran through her mind, she was unable to do so *what if I did lose him? I need to get away from here. I need to get him help so much blood* his head was covered she couldn't tell how much was his and how much belonged to the men he had killed though she had an idea a lot of it was his. She ducked into an alley and waited she head the battle raging from all sides, picking a very precise path through the alleys she knew well it didn't take her long to get to the temporary hospital in the center of town, many guards on all sides making sure this area was well secured. This wasn't just a hospital it was also the planning room for this battle, they hadn't had enough time to set up a proper defence. She shook her head and laid her friend on one of the tables the ducked back into the shadows.
*end flashback*
He nooded blankly as she explained everything that had happened, she didn't tell him she sat there and waited for to hear the doctors say he would recover, she also didn't tell him after the battle had ended she had waited by his side in this room for the full 6 days that he was unconscious. Some things she told herself, Are better left unspoken.
He Looked at his friend locking eyes with her for bried moments, He hated eye contact, it made him feel powerless, weak even. He watched her recount the battle her eyes pained at some parts, filled with anger at others. She was shorter than him at 5'4" she had a very small frame. He continued listening to her account of the battle, Now and then images running through his mind, watching her fight was something he enjoyed, it was almost hypnotic, so very fluid that if you weren't careful it would distract your attention and get you into trouble. He laughed to himself, he knew that all too well watch too long you end up with some nasty scars. His hand moved to his side without thinking to a scar that he had acquired that way. He had been so focused on her that he hadn't even seen the axe coming until it was too late, he had tried to dodge turning what would have been a devastating hit into a grazing scrape but more than enough o leave a scar and limit his movement.
She finished telling him what had happened, He just nodded to her again and laid back down onto his bed. Everything hurt he needed rest. He looked at her one more time before closing his eyes and telling her "Get some rest Tekiri, You look like hell" seconds later he was back asleep, A black void washed over him, then a booming voice. He knew that voice thought he couldn't recall where he had heard it before "Everrath...."
"where am I" Everrath replied
"this is the plain of chaos Everrath" the voice echoed
A look of pure shock came over him...the plain of chaos? "Why would I be here?" He asked the voice
"I can not tell you that now you will return to the waking world in a moment, this will not be the last time we speak I assure you" The voice faded and there was nothing but the darkness.
