801-The Fictional Story of Two Boys In Love
The sunlight danced through the leaves as the two lovers lay side by side. One says, “Isn’t it funny? This time last year I didn’t even know that I was interested in a relationship with a male. And now look where we are.” He turns his head slowly so he can stare deep into his Kai’s chocolate brown eyes and simply says, “I love you.”
**Six months earlier**
“Damn it Aiden, HURRY UP! This is boygirl2‘s first gig and we’re going to be late because you’re worrying about how the stage lights will affect your skin tone. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear you were gay.”
“Shut up! I am trying to find an outfit, thank you. Since your fat ass borrowed my skinny jeans they aren’t skinny anymore. They make my ass look flabby. I can’t go out in public like that! The tabloids will tear me apart!!!”
“Tabloids? Seriously? We are playing at a coffee shop called Daisy’s and you think that the press will be there? You look fine, come on!”
“Tabloids or not I still have to look good. I’m the lead singer, the hot one, the one to fish in the Asians so you can have somebody to sleep with.”
“Okay, Aiden, if that’s how you feel I won’t argue with you anymore but could you just please hurry? The girls will wonder where we are. We were supposed to leave twenty minutes ago.”
“Ugh. Fine. I’m ready. How are the girls getting there?”
“I think Leian is driving. After Caz’s wreck, Leian refuses to let her drive anywhere.”
“Good. At least we’ll have a full band. And if we’re late and our mob of fans becomes angry, I think the girls can handle a few songs alone.”
“You have three seconds to get into the car. 3….2….”
“I’m in! I’m in!”
**Meanwhile at Daisy’s**
“Where are they!?” asked an exasperated Caz, “They said they would be here at four to
help us set up. It’s 4:10!!”
“Caz, stop worrying. As long as Kai is driving they won’t be late. Or possibly alive. But they’ll be here soon enough.”
“Caz! This is your keyboard, get your ass out here and carry it in!” yelled Kai rudely, as was his manner. “And Leian, I am not about to carry your damn bass in there.”
Leian rolled her eyes and murmured, “Great. They’ve arrived.”
And not only did they arrive, but the gig went without problems. Daisy’s was packed and boygirl2 was very well compensated. After the show however….
**Later, while slamming through the hang-over...**
It was six am. The alarm clock was ringing, but nobody could wake up to turn it off. After the show last night at Daisy’s the members of boygirl2 partied like it was somebody’s birthday. The show had gone extremely well and the owner of Daisy’s took the band out for a few drinks which turned into many drinks, which turned into one unforgettable night.
Aiden woke up in an unfamiliar bed. He took in the red satin sheets, the thick black down comforter…No…this bed wasn’t unfamiliar, it just wasn’t his own. It was Kai’s. He looked around and saw Kai lying next to him, passed-out drunk. What the hell had happened last night? He checked to make sure they both had their clothes on, they did. That was a good start. He definitely didn’t feel like anything had happened, but then again his mind was still fuzzy from all the alcohol he had consumed the previous night. He tried to sit up but his head seemed too heavy and began to swim so he lay back down and thought. The last thing he remembered was leaving the Turn the Beat Around dance club for home.
After arriving home, he thought that they had played a few more rounds of beer pong, but couldn’t remember. Okay, he felt like he could stand now. Slowly, ever so slowly, he pushed up from the bed gently as to not wake Kai. What the hell had gone on? The apartment was in more of a mess than it usually was. There were clothes strewn everywhere, although the two of them still had their clothes on and he could see that the girls were still fully dressed and asleep on the couch. Fuzz was not in his cage but was instead lying balled up in one of the empty pans on the stove. And he was covered in glitter. “Wow,” was all that Aiden could say.
“So it seems that you guys had fun last night,” stated a low voice.
“WHO THE HELL?!?!” screamed Aiden. “Oh, Savvy, it’s just you. You scared me. How’d you get in here?”
“My little sister was sloppy drunk and called me last night. She needed my help. Leian was puking her guts out and so was she. It seems you boys were…preoccupied and couldn’t help. She asked if I could come over, so I did. Would you like some coffee? It will help with your headache.”
“Yeah, sure. Anything that will get rid of this. So at what point did you get here? I honestly don’t remember a thing. I barely remember coming home, much less of what happened after it.”
“Well, Caz called me as you guys were leaving the club to tell me she was heading here. I figured she was pretty bad off by the way she slurred her words. Then when she called me crying I knew she really needed me. So I guess it was about an hour after you guys got here,” she explained from the kitchen counter. Casually she asked, “Caz didn’t tell me you and Kai were finally together.”
“What?! I don’t know what kind of street crack you’ve been smoking but we are not together. We are both straight. And how do you mean finally?”
“Honey, I have known the two of you since you were in high school and a connection was obvious. And then that hot little make-out session of yours last night….even I was getting turned on. It was a wonder you guys didn’t go any further. I was sure I would be hearing some wild animal calls but all I heard was snoring. What a bummer.”
“Savvy, please tell me you’re just tricking me. This is not funny at all. Please, please tell me you are lying.”
“I’m afraid not, you little sex kitten. Seems like you’re in denial. I can tell you love him by the way you look at him.”
“Fuck you, Savvy. Get out of my house and fuck you.”
“Anytime sweetheart, just bring along that little lover of yours and we can make it a party. Toodles.”
Aiden just sat at the bar as he heard the door close behind Savvy. I cannot believe her, I cannot believe her, was all that he was thinking. He looked around the apartment one last time and departed to his own bedroom. There he could be alone. There he could reflect. Had it really happened? Had he really made-out with his best friend of six years? Had his feelings for him really shown that much? Wait, feelings? He didn’t have those types of feelings for Kai, so why did he say it that way? Sure he loved Kai, but not like a romantic love. Or was it? He had never been in a relationship before so he wasn’t sure how romantic love felt. He knew he couldn’t live without Kai. Did that count as him being in love with Kai? Or just as his best friend? He needed a clear head. He needed a shower.
He walked into the bathroom and stared into the mirror. He looked a hot mess. His shirt was covered in the same glitter as Fuzz, his hair was in knots and was sticking out in random directions, and his eyeliner was smeared to the bridge of his nose. He grabbed the bottom of his designer tee and shook the glitter off then removed his shirt. He had a few bruises on his shoulders and ribs that looked faintly of bite marks. When had that happened? He removed the rest of his clothes and turned on the tap. As he let the water warm, he sunk to the floor of the shower and began to cry. He had finally realized what these perplexing feelings he had felt since freshmen year meant. He loved Kai. He did more than love him; he was in love with him.
