Puppet 2

This is it! The sequel to Puppet, a story I’m proud of. I hope you all enjoy the sequel!

Story Description: In the future, there are both mortals and immortals. Each immortal is gifted with a puppet, or play toy of their own.

A few years ago, Officer Kiyoshi Endo discovered he belonged to the immortal known as Luke because of a single glowing P on his chest. To Kiyoshi, Luke was the only family he had, but that’s about to change.

Michelle, a young American teen, will be forced to live with a cousin she never knew she had living in Japanese after her mother goes into a coma.

Kiyoshi, discovering he has family, takes Michelle in. But when he discovers the glowing P on her lower abdomen, he reflects on the past, and wonders what the present has in store.

CHAPTER 1:

(Year 7027)

The year is 7027 in the future. Though technology has taken a large leap of success, still only a few differences have been made. Instead of running on gas, electricity helps people to travel. Not one war between mortals has broken out for over fifty years. The people of Earth have begun to successfully treat one another as equals. Trade is easier to do from one to the other, though cropping is more difficult these times of days, due to large construction of brand new buildings. Most doors were opened with buttons, though few still turned the knob. Because of the United States great rising, English is a second language to all people of Earth. Other then these few changes, however, Earth may almost seem as it was many years ago.

--

Night fell over the small wood. The only visible light shone was that of the moon, and many sparkling stars. Tall oak tree branches swayed from the small gust of wind. Many leaves on the trees gave off rattling sounds. It was a very peaceful atmosphere, but it was soon interrupted by the upcoming sound of two out-of-breath voices.

The first voice was that of a young man. He appeared to have muscle, though his stomach was more out, and his arms and legs chubby. He had light blonde hair that stuck up, but made little movement when it’d come in contact with a gust of wind, tanned skin, and his eyes, though unclear in the dark, were brown. He wore a red buttoned shirt tucked in light blue jeans, though a partial of the shirt was dangling out of his jeans. He was laughing crazily, and kept turning to stare at his oncoming friend, who was a tad behind him.

The other was a young lady. She was somewhat slim, and wore a short pinkish dress, which was flowing with the movement of the wind. Her light brown hair was held in a pony, but was coming loose. She held her hot pink high-heels in her hand as she tried her hardest to keep up with the man in front of her. “Tim,” the lady laughs, “Tim wait up!”

Timothy turns to the young lady and chuckles. “Come on Dawn, we’re almost there.”

The two continued up the small hill. Dawn tried her hardest to dodge weeds, though a few prickles found their way into her feet.

Soon Timothy and Dawn came to their destination at the top of the hill.

“Here,” Timothy points down, “Take a look at that? Isn’t that something?”

Dawn gives off a smile. Below them was the city they lived in. It was shining brightly with a multitude of colorful lights from buildings, zooming vehicles, and more. They were so high up, however, that the sound of traffic and roaming strangers did not reach their ears. “Wow,” Dawn whispers, “It’s beautiful.”

“Yes,” Tim stretches, “The view is great, but…” Timothy makes his way closer to Dawn, “It’s not nearly as beautiful as the creature standing before me.” Timothy smiles as Dawn blushes. Though the blush was hard to make out in this dark, Timothy knew it was there. “Come here…”

The two wrapped themselves in each other’s arms. Their warmth fought against the wind, and won. Soon, the two were kissing. Dawn parted her lips, allowing Timothy’s tongue entry. He accepted it gratefully and pushed his wet tongue past her chapped lips. Timothy let in the taste of Dawn’s green apple lip-gloss, and bit away at her lips, allowing his tongue to moisten them. Dawn let off a pleased mumble as she allowed her arms to wrap behind Timothy’s neck.

As Dawn seemed to enjoy the kiss too much, she stepped back, and began to tumble backwards. She gave off a little shriek, followed by a group of giggles as Timothy tumbled to the grass alongside her. The two began to laugh together, still with their lips attached. But a little after they landed, Timothy removed his lips from Dawn to give her a concerned stare, though he was still laughing. “Are you alright?”

“Yes,” Dawn kisses Timothy again, “I’m fine.”

They share another kiss. Timothy shortens this kiss; however, as he begins to tell Dawn something of importance, “So…the reason I wanted to bring you out here was to ask you something.”

Dawn gives Timothy a quizzical smile. She lays on her arms, and nods. “Okay…”

“Dawn,” Timothy looks up at the stars, “How long has it been since we’ve known one another? Four years, correct?” Dawn curiously nods her head, so Timothy continues, “Well, let’s look at the details here. Four years of dating. I love you, and you love me, right?”

“Of course I do,” Dawn giggles, “I do love you, Tim. What’s this all about?” Though she asked this, Dawn had a feeling she already knew what this was all about.

“Dawn,” Timothy reaches into his pocket, “I know I’m not the most attractive of all guys. I don’t do sports, or am all that intelligent, but the point is that I love you, and hope that what I’m about to ask you, you’ll answer me truthfully, and honestly.” Dawn began to grow nervous. She nods her head at Timothy, and promises to answer truthfully and honestly. “So Dawn,” Timothy takes out a tiny object; a ring, “Will you marry me?”

Dawn lets a sigh escape her lips. She turns her head away, though she could not hide her smile. “Well,” Dawn said, “Let me think about it.” Dawn then sees the shocked expression on Timothy’s face, and could not help but giggle as she suddenly leaps over him, embracing him in a lovable hug, “Yes!”

Both filled with excitement, the two began to kiss again. The moon appeared to shine brighter then before. Timothy and Dawn were happy; nothing could possibly ruin the moment...

Ring, ring, ring goes the sound of Dawn’s cell phone’s ring tone, making the couple groan out. Dawn cursed slightly as she lifts off of Timothy to answer the cell. Digging inside her white purse, she pulls it out, and looks to see who was calling. She gives the call a confused stare as Timothy sits up beside her, “Who is it?”

“I’m not sure,” Dawn presses a button and puts the phone up to her ear, “Hello?” After a moment Dawn answers: “Yes, that’s me.” Timothy rubs his loves back as she speaks on the phone. Her features turn gloomy, making Timothy ponder about what was going on, and who was on the other end of the phone. “Okay,” Dawn nods, “Okay I’ll be over in a moment. Thank you, Officer.” Timothy raises an eyebrow at the word ‘Officer.’ He gives his love a worried stare.

“Who was that?”

“Um,” Dawn slowly rises to her feet, though her legs were wobbly, “That was Chief Dagwood down at the police station.”

“What the hell,” Timothy scratches his head, “What did he want with you?”

“They, they found my sister,” Dawn stares sadly at Timothy, “She had moved to Tokyo, Japan.”

“Really,” Timothy smiles, “Wow, that’s awesome news!” Timothy becomes bewildered as his fiancée begins to cry, “Isn’t it?”

“She,” Dawn sniffs, and stares up at Timothy with a certain hate in her eyes, “She’s been murdered…”

--

Dawn and Timothy had moved fast to get to the police station. They had arrived about a half an hour after Dawn heard the terrible news of her sister.

Entering the station, Dawn moved a bit ahead of Timothy as she rushes up to a receptionist desk where sat a young male officer. “Excuse me,” Dawn speaks, “I got a call from Chief Dagwood.”

The black officer nods his head after setting down a peach colored phone. “Are you Dawn Parkins?” Dawn nods her head at the officer, “Yes he’s waiting for you in his office,” the officer gets up from his desk, “Follow me, and I’ll take you to him.”

Dawn and Timothy follow the officer, whose nametag read Eddie Marks on it. They turned a corner, and followed Officer Marks up to the Chief’s door. Marks gives the door a knock. The Chief soon is heard calling, “Come in,” from behind the door. Marks opens the door and peaks his head in. “Sir, Dawn Parkins is here now.”

“Oh good,” Chief Dagwood stands to his feet, “Send her in.”

Marks allows Dawn and Timothy to pass. As Marks closes the door behind him, Dawn and Timothy greet Chief Dagwood with firm handshakes, (Dawn’s softer then Timothy’s) before taking the seats offered to them by Chief Dagwood.

“I know that this is sort of sudden,” Chief Dagwood folds his hands, “I’m extremely sorry for your sudden loss, Ms. Parkins.”

“I don’t understand,” Dawn frowns, “How—how did you find her? How did you find out she was living in Japan? Not even I knew! And now—and now she’s dead.”

“Well believe me it was difficult locating you,” Chief Dagwood takes a sip of fresh coffee, “You see, she had married there, and her last name became Endo. We only were able to find you after looking into her background. She kept her main appearance, but it was as if she were hiding from someone to keep herself safe. Sadly, that ended, well, you know…”

“I can’t believe this,” Dawn could feel the tears streaming down her cheeks, “My sister, Alice, is dead?” Dawn allows Timothy’s own hand to take hers. She stares sadly at the ground, and also allows her tears to fall.

“Well there’s one other thing,” Chief Dagwood rubs his neck, “One last thing for you to know.”

Dawn gives Chief Dagwood a glare, “What?”

“I have a friend who lives out in Japan,” Chief Dagwood said, “He’s an officer too. He was on the murder case for your sister, and when he entered the house where she and her husband were murdered, he found something.” Dawn awaited Chief Dagwood to finish, though she was socked to hear her sister’s husband had been murdered, as well, “It appears that your sister had a son, and he’s still alive.”

Dawn’s sparkling blue eyes widen in shock. Her sister had a son; he’s still alive. This was all too much. Dawn didn’t need this; she didn’t.

“We were hoping, and wondering,” Chief Dagwood continued, “About where the boy would be living. We tried our hardest to locate living relatives. It appeared the man your sister married was a loner. He had no other known family, so we searched your sister’s side, and we found you.” Dawn knew what was coming. She knew what Chief Dagwood would be asking her, and she wanted to cover her ears and run, “Dawn,” Chief Dagwood’s face is firm, “Would you be willing to take the boy in?”

“No,” Dawn yells, making both Timothy and Chief Dagwood jump, “How can you even ask this of me? My sister left us! She left all of us for some good-looking man, and she never came back! Now I just discover she had moved to Tokyo only to marry a different man, and have a son? You expect me to take that child in?” Tears spill from Dawn’s eyes. She holds her head, and glares angrily at Chief Dagwood, “How dare you! How dare you put this on me?”

“Dawn,” Timothy scoots over and embraces his love in a hug, “Shh, please calm down.”

“We are sorry for all this,” Chief Dagwood claims, “But if you do not take the boy in, then the only other place for him is an orphanage. Is that what you really want?”

Dawn lowers her head the desk. She tries to hold back her sniffles, but some escape. Her hair, now out of its pony, falls over her face. Lifting her head, her hand is placed over her left blue eye. She shakily gives Chief Dagwood her final answer: “No,” Dawn whispers, “I don’t want to take the boy in.”

Giving Dawn a brief stare, Chief Dagwood sighs knowing the woman has made up her mind. “Very well then,” Chief Dagwood gathers up a few sheets of paper, and places them in front of Dawn, “Please read through these, and sign on the bottom. This will get the boy into a good orphanage in Tokyo.”

Dawn does read over the papers. She reads over each word; sometimes twice, just to make sure Chief Dagwood was not lying to her about this paper. She did not want the child, and who could blame her? Grabbing a black pen, Dawn signs her full name on the paper, sets the pen down, and pushes it towards Chief Dagwood.

“Everything is set,” Chief Dagwood takes the papers and places them in his desk’s drawer, “The boy will be put in a fine orphanage. However, if you do ever change your mind and wish to care for the boy, here’s my number. The boy’s name is Kiyoshi; Kiyoshi Endo.”

Dawn accepts the phone number, though she promised she’d never call it. She wanted nothing to do with the child. She wanted to forget her sister; forget everything about her sister, and move on with her life. She wanted to marry Timothy, move in with him, and perhaps have a child of her very own.

Exiting the building, Timothy grabs his love’s arm and stares her straight in the eye, “Dawn, are you sure?”

“Yes,” Dawn smiles, “If I ever have child, I want it to be my own, and yours. I want to have a child with you, Tim.”

Timothy smiles at his love as they head back for his car. Yes, a child of their own. That sounded much more promising.
