Saving Sophia

Prologue:

Standing, much too afraid to move her eyes began to shed big translucent tears that gave the impression that she had been sweating profusely. The urge to run in the other direction was fully present as well as the fear to keep still was causing her emotions to fluctuate between fright and panic. The grass felt like knives under her feet, the soil like lava but she didn’t move. She didn’t move an inch just staring ahead at the horrific beast now staring back at her. She could see its rather large fangs glistening in the moonlight of the damp forest. Its muscular form covered by thick auburn fur reminded her much of a lions but much more fierce and much more daunting. The long black hair that ran down the majority of his body held in it a variety of shells and beads but only on a few loose strands. Its beastly green eyes looked angry but after a few moments lust began to rear its ugly head until it became clear to any person with the gift of sight that the beast wanted her. The sky was nearly pitch black by now the only source of light being the red tinged moon that seemed to haunt the atmosphere with its deadly glow. The caw of a crow in the distance seemed to break the long silence and now it was clear to Sophia that she and the world in fact was alive and reality hit like a cold breeze but when those two cat like legs began to move swiftly in her direction the only thing she cared about was the treacherous path ahead. It didn’t matter though because she was much too afraid to even think about turning back.
