Clove: Book 4 of Lord Emperor Vampire Series

Okay, I was too evil. So here is the opening prologue for Book 4 for of the Lord Emperor Vampire series: Clove. It will remain a first person narrative however, I hope the Loyal will give me some leeway in “offroading” a bit --such as the offered chapter below.
Tell me if this works for you. If not, I’ll scrap it and start fresh in a couple of weeks.

I have a very mixed bag of reviews regarding this prologue. Some of you love it and find it appropriate, those that hate it, hate it with a passion with stirring reviews. I have made an attempt by explaining why have I have started this way over in the Rants section, How do I write?? Are you kidding me!!! chapter 18. The Book of Clove. Spoiler Alert warnings if you go and check it out. If there are more arguments with the Loyal, I am open to re-consideration/re-writing, but please view my points as well.

I have looked over the reviews once again and since I had hit a writing wall, I have to agree with my critics. I am starting over again. Claudius' thoughts will show up later in the story as well as chapter 3. I have re-written the beginning because Orel Wessel is an evil entity and I white washed it with a quick fix. Yes, I wanted everyone back together quickly but it just didn't sit right. Sooo.... I hope I don't offend too many with my do-over but it just wasn't flowing right.
