The Watcher

Chapter 1

He watched her as she entered the building. The screen was brought up on the big screen television so he had a good view. He quickly made a phone call to the security room to make sure that they kept an eye on her. She seemed scared or skittish, he thought as he continued to watch her move forward. She took a step and then another, glancing around as she moved. She bumped into a guy who was coming out of the gift shop, dropping her bags as she glanced around. He had a perfect view of her face and eyes as she did so, he saw the fear in her eyes. She looked like a deer caught in the headlights of an car coming at him. It was unusual to see that in a hotel. Especially a hotel like this one.
He felt someone come up beside him as he continued to watch the woman on the screen. The man sighed and then glanced to his right, his brother stood staring at the screen. He smiled slightly knowing damn well his brother had no clue what had grabbed his attention, but yet he still stared just as he was doing himself.
The girl, was beautiful, well she looked beautiful. Straight black hair, that looked like it had been dyed recently to that color. It didn’t distract from her beauty though. Striking blue eyes sat under red eyebrows, and with all the emotion in her eyes she seemed more and more like the deer in the headlights. He watched as she moved toward the registration desk on screen. Quickly he grabbed the phone and called down to let them know that she should give her a room on his floor. He didn’t have to give a reason, he didn’t want to give one, he wasn’t sure he even knew why he wanted her to stay here but he did.
Once he got off the phone, he turned to his brother. He was just as tall as he was at 6’4”, they had the same hair a dark brown and the same eyes, light blue, just like there mother. They were identical twins, however, there looks were about the only thing that was identical. He worked in the family business, well a section of it; he ran a hotel in a tourist town, they had good business and they had there slow months but it was fun. Since they had built the hotel it had helped the town a lot, which was a great thing. His brother, Trenton, was a pro football player in Wisconsin. He excelled in his position as a running back and receiver, they had labeled him one of the most lethal players of this season, since he was able to play most of the offensive positions.
They both had played in College but for him it just wasn’t his passion, plus he was the eldest of the two, so he was more into the family business of owning and running companies, plus he had the family name of C.K. He was happier there than anywhere else. It was what he was made to be a part of. Even if everyone of the kids had part in it, he was the one who would take over everything whenever there father retired from his position and that was just fine with everyone that was involved.
C.K. turned and just looked at his brother as he looked at the screen, he really did look like a pro ball player. He wore the team jacket and was just built like a damn truck. All those work outs and weight lifting paid off. Not that he was a twig but compared to his brother he was sure that he might be considered that. He worked out and kept his body toned but only to please himself.
“So, what are we looking at,” Trenton asked C.K.
“That woman, right there, she’s booking a room.” C.K. replied.
“What about her?”
“She seems scared,”
“Well that’s nothing new, I would be scared if I was checking into your hotel also.”
“Ha, very funny. She seems afraid as if someone is after her.”
“You’re imagining things. Is she going to be like those cats you used to bring home to bring back to health.”
“This is hardly the same situation, this is a woman and I’m telling you she is afraid of something or someone.”
“And if she is, you’re going to help her huh.”
“Maybe, look at her though, she’s gorgeous.”
“Lord, just because Jordan got married this summer, does not mean you have to follow suit.”
“Who said I was, all I said was she was pretty and looked scared.”
“Mhm, I know you, you’re going to help her, just watch yourself so you don’t get attached.”
“If I help her then I help her, so what?”
“Just don’t get attached.”
“Yea, yea, I won’t.”
“She is pretty though.”
“Get out of here, I don’t need you here harassing my employees or customers.”
“But I’m a celebrity.”
“Yea, that’s why I don’t need you here, besides don’t you have camp to go to or something. Something productive.”
“Yep, I have to make those flyers for the football week you’re allowing next week for everyone on the team and other teams.”
“You haven’t done that yet, it’s next week.”
“Well, I have but I haven’t.”
“Trent. . .”
“Oh, calm down, I had them done and sent for the other teams over a month ago, but for Wisconsin, I waited until now, we’re closer so we don’t need much time. Besides I know you reserved over half the hotel and all the cabins for the teams.”
“Yea but by the middle of next week whatever is not taken is being opened to the public.”
“Yea, I know. Let’s just wait until, say Thursday.”
“Alright, now get out of here so I can do my job.”
“Stop watching the screen then.”
“Go throw a football”
“Go write some reports,” His brother stated with a laugh as he walked out of the penthouse apartment C.K. had. The next week it would be both of their homes.

C.K. watched as his brother left, then turned back to the screen, the woman was gone but he still wanted to keep an eye on things.
