Ch. 1
Caribbean Cruise
Chapter 1: The Auction
Jandy, Lauren, and myself attended Mid-Del Christian School in Del City, Oklahoma. Jandy is 18, Lauren is 18 and I am 19. The day after graduation, Lauren, Jandy, and myself drove to St. Anthony's Hospital to start our volunteer rounds for the evening.
Our first stop was to visit a little 7 yr. old girl named Kaylee who was to get a tumor removed from her leg. While we were there we also signed up for the mystery date where guys were to bid, starting at $50 and going up, on a girl they wanted to date by the description the host gave of her.
Three lucky couples had a chance to fly to Ft. Lauderdale, for 2 weeks, from there they would take a Caribbean Cruise then from there they were to stop at the Bahamas for a few days then be on their way back to Ft. Lauderdale then they were to take a flight back to Oklahoma. When our volunteer shift had ended it was about 9:30 p.m., and then we left to go home. The day of the auction Jandy, Lauren, and myself met each other at the mall and we talked a little and walked around the mall until about 12:00 p.m. then went to grab a bite to eat at the food court.
Then at 6:30 p.m. we went home to get ready for the auction, tonight I wore my tyler jeans and my military camo baby-t and flip flops. At around 6:45 p.m. Lauren, Jandy, and I arrived at St. Anthony's Hospital for the auction, there was a total of 60 girls in the mystery date auction itself and many guys ready to spend their hard earned money to get a mystery date with a girl.
Jandy was wearing a pair of loose baggy black pants and a fitted shirt with a deep v neck and some black army combat boots. Lauren was wearing a pair of jeans and a purple spaghetti strap shirt. Jandy was mystery date #58, Lauren was #59, and I was #60. When they had finally got to Jandy and her description was read a 4 man war broke out settling at the highest bid of $1500, that lucky guys' name was Shawn he was 22 yrs. old and he worked for his dad's company as his after school job. He attends a local college in Oklahoma City and is in the ArmyROTC.
When it was Lauren's turn and her description was read a 6 man war broke out settling at the highest bid of $1550, that lucky guys' name was Jon, he was 22 yrs. old and worked. She often hung out with Jandy and me after school at my house, before our volunteer rounds started. The 3 of us often hung out a lot, and often ran into Jon at Brian's house, a schoolmate of ours, when Brian would throw parties. He was too shy to tell Lauren about his feelings for her, so he never did.
When it was finally my turn and my description was read a 5 man war broke out settling at the highest bid of the whole auction, at $1600! That luky guys' name was Samuel Hall, he was 21 yrs. old and was enlisted in the Army. He, unbeknownst to anyone except my family, was my boyfriend. As soon as Shawn and Jon would get off for the day they would go straight to the mall or Brian's in hopes of running into us. Samuel had recently got transferred to Ft. Sill in Oklahoma from coming back from Korea, where we had met online. He often saw me on the weekends, when he drove up to the city.
The guys were then matched up with the girl they won from the bidding. When all the couples were matched and their names were put into a large fish bowl, it was time to draw the 3 winning couples for the Caribbean Cruise. The host randomly drew 3 slips of paper from the bowl and read the names. The first couple that won the Caribbean Cruise was Shawn and Jandy, the second couple was Jon and Lauren, and the last couple was Samuel and myself.
