First Light
First Light
The rain comes down and caresses the window,
the birds, a joyous choir,
I lay here beside you as you sleep
and dream of hearts on fire.
Curls of hair fall across your face
and glow in the soft first light,
the rain senses the mood inside
remembering the night.
Where has she come from this dream of mine,
how can I make her real,
the rain continues its steady chorus
expressing how I feel.
Sleep my dear and let me dream
of lying next to you,
my finger's gently touch your lips
as you fade from my view.
