It was an unusually hot day for October as the leaves had already begun to change colors and fall. As she jogged through the park, Dana trod on the colorful path with hardly even a glance at her surroundings, for her mind was distracted. The day was only just beginning as she was almost finished with her four mile jaunt, with many things from the night before on her mind. The mysterious man she had only met less than a week before was already constantly protruding into her thoughts and distracting her from even the most routine jobs.
She couldn’t believe what she was getting into, long nights out, most of them ending at his house. And although she barely knew anything about this man she realized, inevitably, that she was falling for him and falling hard. Her job was suffering, she had rarely slept, hardly ate, and she wasn’t exactly sure that she knew what she was getting into. Dana knew that his name was Trent.
Trent…his name brought chills to her skin just thinking about him. Chills from the intensity of their relationship, and the quickness of how it escalated. There was very little she actually knew about him, she knew that he was a bartender at a local hole in the wall called “El Beso del Diablo.” He was exactly the kind of guy that she would normally reject in a heartbeat, but something about his brilliantly green eyes and annoyingly persistent demeanor was suddenly irresistible. She had to have him, and she quickly melted at his touch. It was the first time in years that she had let her guard down enough to be in a relationship, and it frightened her as nearly as much as it excited her. He was tall, dark and handsome, typical prince material and yet so rugged and intense that there was no way this prince even owned a suit of shining armor.
Arriving at her apartment she took a moment outside to catch her breath and organize her thoughts. Drawing in steady breaths to control her breathing, she could hear her cat Rufus mewing behind the door to be given undivided attention, but all she thought about was Trent…
