From the wrong side of the tracks
This is my first story on this site. So go easy on me.
Claire skipped down the stairs, “Mom? Have you seen my green sweater anywhere?” She turned around at the bottom of the steps, heading for the laundry room to look there when she heard her brother calling her. “Claire, come in here there’s someone I want you to meet.” Claire rolled her eyes, oh great, she thought, another of his loser friends.
Claire trudged into the living room and stopped when she saw Jason McGrath sitting on the couch. Jason was the “badboy” in town, born on the bad side of town. His father was noted to be a violent drunk when he wasn’t locked up for something, his mom had run off as soon as she could. Jason had been in the graduating class two years ahead of her, so they really didn’t cross paths much at all. But he was the fantasy guy that all the girls whispered about. **What would it be like to be kissed by him?** Claire wondered. The girls in school talked about how he fixes up cars and races them.
Her brother, David, broke the tension that had settled in the room, “Well, I guess you already know Jason, huh kit-kat? Well, Jay this is my lil’sis, Claire. She’s a senior this year, gonna graduate and go to Harvard, aren’t ya?” David loved to talk about how she was “going to do the family proud.” It always embarrassed Claire a little to hear him talk about it, not to mention that she detected the slightest hint of jealousy. David hadn’t graduated, he’d spent too much of highschool partying, drinking, racing and some other things that Claire didn’t want to think about. David had his own rep in town. The “oh he has so much potential, if he only applied himself” boy.
Jason stood up and looked into her eyes, “Hey, nice house.” Claire shook his hand. **God, he has the most gorgeous eyes! A dark blue, like the depths of the ocean. And his hair, its as black as tar. I just wanted to run my fingers in it.** Claire shook her head a little and smiled up at him. **I'm not like all the frilly headed clone girls in school that go all dreamy eyed at his name!**
Claire's mom came in at that moment, “Hey, honey. I found your sweater. Oh, David you brought a guest.” David made introductions again. Mom’s eyes flickered, she had heard of Jason McGrath, “Well you two young men be careful now, have fun this evening.” She went back into the kitchen. Claire watched them leave. Jason turned back and gave a wink that sent shivers down her spine. **Stop it! You’re both totally different and besides, he would never be interested in you! You’re too young, fat, and…not his type!**
Re-edited to make up for mistakes. BTW, how do you do italics on here? HTML code doesn't seem to work. Thanks.
