Auriga Corporation Fanfic Files
Prologue
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Humans living in relative peace… as well as in relative ignorance. The peace they take for granted is only won for them by fighting the foul creatures of the night, and by the recording of ghostly stories, histories, and the stories of Warriors…
This is the hidden side of the Auriga Corporation; a famous and wealthy international company that deals with banking and other transactions of money. By day, a group of seven \"business people\" also known as the Council of Seven, mingle with politicians, do business transactions, and deal with their day-time workers that know nothing of the corporation’s nightly business.
However, when the sun goes down, the hidden side of the Auriga Corporation is revealed... The seven \"business people\" become a seven-member international council that deals with hidden, well-organized clans that protect and record the secrets of the night. The Auriga Corporation is very well connected worldwide. Underground subways that secretly connect all the countries together, special aboveground taxi\'s, and private airplanes shuttle the ranks of each clan around the world as needed... When there is need of a meeting, \"the seven\" meet in a very secretive underwater base in the Atlantic Ocean.
The clans are secretive; no outsider is to know of these clans or of the nightly activities of the Auriga Corporation. People who join the clan are skilled individuals who are invited by members, with special permission from the clan head. They are first investigated, cleared, and initiated by their new clan as well as the Council of Seven. If a child is born to two clan members, then that child automatically becomes a member of the clan. If a member should spill the dark secrets of the CLAN, then that person\'s memory is wiped clean as well as the memory of whomever they may have told, and they are thrown from the CLAN with all connections being cut.
These clans watch us in the shadows. By day, fanfiction writers tell stories of their CLANs, in the evening, a whole new world opens up and it is their job to protect us from it. Come into our world...if you dare...
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Our story begins in a small, peaceful village in Africa. Night had fallen hours ago but the world around the small village was restless. The wind blew furiously and the sky let all of its tears fall to the earth below. The sky was alive with lightning and the sound of distant thunder... The villagers had all gathered in a small cave near the edge of the village to avoid the ravenous weather that was busy tearing down their huts.
Everything went frighteningly quiet all of a sudden and several villagers looked out the cave entrance to see if the rain had ceased. The strange thing was… the rain was still coming down like sheet metal… yet not a sound came from it.
A second later the silence was broken by an ear shattering screech and a sound almost like the beating of drums... Several of the villagers turned towards the back of the large cave as a giant creature hovered near them gazing at them with glowing yellow eyes. Large slightly pointed ears twitched at the movement of a young girl as she scurried behind her mother… The large flat snout of the creature sniffed the air. A long black tail like that of a lizard, but with black fur on the end, waved back and forth anxiously.
Every flap of the giants large black bat wings sent a gust of wind at the villagers blowing their hair in various directions. The creature sent out another ear piercing screech as it swooped towards the villagers stretching it\'s large talons towards them.
The crowd of people scattered in different directions; panic and fear over taking all of their reason and logic... A child who was separated from her mother cried out… No-one heard her above their own screams.
The monster swooped down trying to grab a woman. It missed and pulled up to turn and try again. It\'s red eyes trying to pin out an easy target.
A young man about 25 years of age narrows his eyes. His pale white face separating him from the dark skinned villagers of this ancient land. The villagers knew him as a writer who\'d come to this land in order to experience the lifestyle so he could write his next book. In truth he was a member of a worldwide organisation known as the Auriga Corporation or THE CLANS…
He ran to a safe spot behind a tree and quickly grabbed for the cell phone in his pocket. His fingers dialled the numbers as though he wasn\'t even controlling them. He watched as the creature attacked the villagers and wished that he could do something to help.
The wyvern bat creature threw another body up in the air catching it in its sharp fangs. It landed on a nearby village hut. The roof creaked with the additional weight of the mammoth beast.
Its eyes glared across at its meat… its belly swollen from the amount it had already eaten… but it was clear that this creature wasn\'t finished yet. There was still a lot of fresh meals running around for it to feast on.
The phone soon began to ring and the writer put the phone to his ear waiting for a reply. His heart beating franticly as he sadly watched the goings on. The villagers screamed and ran and tried to hide but he knew it was no use... There was only one thing that could stop this creature.
In a different part of the world… deep under the Atlantic ocean a phone rang....
The blonde secretary rolled her eyes and picked it up. She hoped it wasn\'t another prank call or sales call… though she still didn’t understand how anyone could get a hold of their number…
\"Greetings and welcome to the Aguriga Coporation help line. You\'re speaking to Pamela, please state your name and agency number.\"
\"This is Auriga Writer 33567. We\'ve got an emergency up in Africa. The Watashi village is being attacked by a Wyvern Bat. We need operatives here now,\" he replied quickly as a clash of thunder was heard in the background.
Pamela jumped to attention as she heard the urgency in the man’s voice… She quickly tapped into the computer to check his number. The information came up on her screen and she clicked into the database.
\"I\'m just checking that for you sir.\" Pamela said. \"Okay I can have someone there in an hour… The nearest operative is over 200 miles away.\"
The secretary pulled up the information of the clan leaders… A wyvern bat was high on the list for extermination. It would need a full crew to dispose of the beast. She shuddered as she was glad she didn\'t need to deal with such monsters.
There would be a few people she would need to call. Perhaps an hour would be too late...
\"Right... Please hurry,\" he said, \"I\'m going to try to help the remaining villagers...\"
He wasn\'t sure what he could do, being only a writer, but he knew he had to do something. He looked at the beast and bit his lower lip as an idea formed in his mind… It wasn\'t the safest solution but it was the only one that would save the lives of the villagers.
He narrows his eyes as he stepped out from behind the tree, \"HEY YOU!\" he shouted out loud to the best, \"OVER HERE UGLY!\"
With the creatures full attention on him he made a run for it. If he could keep it distracted long enough the villagers would have time to hide and help might just arrive in time to save him... though he doubted it.
Pamela had hung up the phone that had suddenly cut off dead from the writer. She bit her lip for a moment and prayed to the heavens that the writer she’d been talking to was alright…
