The War in Heaven

Book 1 in the Lucifer Chronicles

By: Anna Parks

Part one: Lucifer the Arch-angel

\" You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty,
You were in Eden; the garden of God, every precious stone adorned you:
Ruby, Topaz and Emerald, Chrysolite, Onyx and Jasper, Sapphire,Turquoise and Beryl
Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared.
You were annointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you.
You were on the holy mount of God; you walked amoung the fiery stones.
You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you.
Through you wide spread trade you were filled with violence and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God and I expelled you, O guardian cherub from among the fiery stones.
Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor.
So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.
By your many sins and dishonest trade you have desecrated your sanctuaries.
So I made a fire come out from you and it consumed you and I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching.
All the nations who knew you are apalled at you; you have come to a powerful end and will be no more.\"

Chapter one: One night

A sweet melody filled the air. It echoed throughout the hall. Skillful fingers plucked at the instrument that was the lyre. The lyre shone off a golden gleam, jewels embedded in the body of this heavenly instrument. Sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds glowed in the light of the room. Torches luminated the room casting a reddish-orange beam of light which shined down on the figures body. Birds of various breeds perched themselves on the balcony the musician sat against. The room itself glowed of silver and jewels. The walls were of the purest white, thin molded lines of silver were the border. Columns of the same white and of the grecian style supported the room. Diamonds of immense size studded the top and bottom areas of the columns. Designs of gold and silver adorned the ceiling. Rows of pearls, rubies and sapphires were arranged around the ceiling in different sizes. The floor was of a mixed marble, white mixed in with grey in swirled designs.
Another balcony existed in the room besides the one that had the musician positioned against it. Royal blue draperies hung on the sides and tops of both balconies. The middle of the velvet drapery was held by a gold tinted rope with golden tassles. The top was trimmed in silver fringes.
A intoxicating scent emitted from the room. Small copper dishes had a sort of smoke being given off. The smell wafted through the air. The copper dishes hung from the glittering ceiling. Herbs of different sorts could be found burning within these bowls.
A trace of murmurs could be heard coming in the direction of this rich and luxorious room. The musician ceased his playing. The music died moments later, the only remains of that tender melody were the echoes throughout the halls.
The musician lifted his head. His knee was crooked in the side of his muscular arm. Golden sandles decorated his feet and the lower half of his legs. Beautifully embroidered designs were sewn into the sandles. He placed the beautifully crafted lyre beside him. The workmanship was enough to put the false roman god of the forge, Vulcan to shame. It had been a gift from the almighty lord himself.
The musician\'s hand rested on the lyre. He was clad in a snow-white tunic, similar to the grecian and roman styles. A brown leather belt was around his waist. It seemed to be what held the lower sides of the tunic together. Some scarlet-red material could be seen on the underside of the clothing by his strong muscular thighs. His legs were very well muscled, not large but not lean either. A metal clasp, most likely brass held the top part of the tunic together. A sleeve was only on the right side, creases and folds ran down the center of the clothing. Part of a well-muscled chest could be seen for the tunic did not cover his whole upper torso.
Waves of golden-blonde curls, similar to those of apollo, the false greek god of light were mounted on his head. They were thick and long, giving off a lusterous shine. The curls of hair stopped just a little above the mid-section of his back. His eyes were a fiery ice blue and looked as if lightning were shooting off within their depths. His skin was fairly tanned but shone with the brilliance of the sun. His mouth was full, the lips a Cupid\'s bow with the coloring of a rosebud. Golden lashes curled around his unfathomable blue eyes and golden brows arched as if in deep thought.
He stood up, taking the lyre with him. Huge feathered wings were attached to his back, two pairs of wings to be exact for he was annointed the guardian cherub. The back of the wings were pure white with freckles of gold and silver. Feathers of various sizes curved and arched downward, ending at his calves. His wings ruffled in frustration as he walked towards the beautifully decorated doors. They were huge french doors made of silver and held every jewel imaginable. Various designs were engraved around hem, the handles were of gold with thin lines of diamonds. The being or angel as his kind would be called below eventually by mortal men turned the handle and walked out into the vast hallway.
The angel looked up as voices entered the hall. His fiery blue eyes widened slightly then began to harden, taking on a sort of malicious anger. A smirk formed on his lips. He stopped, making a stance, he placed a hand on his hip.
He laughed.

\" Well, well. If it isn\'t Michael the mighty arch-angel.\"

The angel called Michael stopped and turned toward the other angel.

\"Lucifer.\"Michael frowned.

Spreading his legs wider, Lucifer crossed his arms arrogantly across his chest. Sarcastic laughter followed. \" What\'s the matter Mikey, you look upset? Still sore about me beating you in today\'s training session.\" Lucifer\'s smirk widened. Some strands of golden hair fell into his eyes, shaking his head back he brushed the stray hairs aside, roaring cynical laughter which echoed throughout the hall.
Michael stiffened his back, his hand began to form a fist due to anger. String Lucifer down he replied, \" You better watch yourself Lucifer. Jehovjehovah may not see through your act but I do! One day he will and when that day comes you\'ll regret it. Your arrogance and pride will be your downfall!\"

Lucifer gave a little chuckle as Michael walked past him. \" Hn. Oh really.\"
He leaned his back against a column until Michael was out of sight. A frown etched it\'s way onto his features as his eyebrows knitted in momentary anger. \" Stupid Michael! He thinks he\'s so tough.\" Snorting he left the hall. \" We\'ll we\'ll just have to see who\'s the number one arch-angel around here.\"
