Silver Kiss

Chapter One:
A Time To Question What Reality Really is

It walks into the room
Dark, black clothes
White flesh of fright
Screams fill the night
Bloodcurdling cries
Here I lie watching
Afraid to move
Feel the icy tears
Crystal diamonds frozen on pale cheeks
I taste ice on my tongue
Ice cold fingers on my arm
Goosebumps
Lined along my wrist
The stench of sweat
Thick and fragrant
All goes pale

You don’t expect darkness to have a face. You don’t expect light to be a sign of all that is right and good with the world. The sun becomes a symbol of the ending of evil and desperation. Euphoria’s world has turned upside down. Human nature is what all the books have predicted evil and selfish. One girl has to make herself known to the cruel corruption and hope that she can be the sun for a world in need of some attention and light…
Euphoria lifted her heavy head and looked at the small crack of light coming in through the covered window. The bed was heavily adorned with silken blankets and uncomfortable feather pillows that poked the back of your head without mercy. Euphoria groaned and looked around at the plain gray room. She wondered where she was, and why she was there. There was no noise coming from the empty hallway. There was no screaming baby from the room next door. She was utterly alone in a place that her metallic green eyes did not recognize.
Euphoria’s aless kss kicked in and she was out from the covers within minutes. To her sheer humiliation she found that her body was bare of clothes or underwear. Euphoria searched the room with narrowed eyes. She heard footsteps in the hall. Her mind screamed, and Euphoria dove for the bed. She scrambled under the covers and watched with anticipation as the heavy oak door opened and guregure walked into the room…
Pieces of Euphoria’s crimson hair fell into her eyes and she would not look at the figure coming into the room. Fear was not something you wanted to openly display in surroundings you did not understand.
The face was maliciously handsome. But she ignored the icy harsh eyes.
“So you’re finally awake.” Said the smooth voice. Euphoria faced him now. She made her face expressionless. Euphoria sat up in the bed and looked at the stranger with cool eyes. The covers were protectively around her naked body. But the tips of her white breasts showed perfectly over the black silk of the blankets. Euphoria brought the blanket up higher. He arched one of his raven eyebrows and snorted mockingly.
“I’ve seen them before. There are clothes in the armoire.” He pointed to the chestnut chest positioned in the center of a corner. Euphoria looked at him expectantly. Wanting him to leave her alone to dress in private. A slow wicked smile came over his lips.
“I have to watch you oh Haughty Mistress. If you choose to stay in the bed that’s fibut but you’ll have to get dressed sometime today.” Euphoria shrugged indifferently. She wrapped one of the coverlets around her enticing body and walked to the armoire. The problem arouse itself as she realized that she was going to have to drop the coverlet in order to get dressed.
Euphoria opened the ancient silver handle of the chest with her long and elegant fingers. Her eyes gave a sidelong glance to the man standing at the door and quickly went back to the task at hand. The door of the chest creaked open and inside Euphoria was not thrilled to find that the outfits were all white. Euphoria lifted a hand to one of the gold hangers holding the beautifully crafted dresses and examined it.
It was as if the dress were made for an angel. The white was pristine. The skirt was full and plain with sheer layer upon layer. The bodice was a corseted innocence with silver interwoven with white beads. There were long sheer sleeves that appeared to cover the hands. Euphoria glanced across the room. There was nowhere she could hide to get dressed and it looked like she would have to drop the coverlet so she could put the dress on. Feeling trapped, she was just about to drop the blanket and let her worries go when she was grabbed and pulled out of the room. There was more than one hand on her arm and she heard a bustling of skirts.
Euphoria was taken to a small room that looked like a Ladies’ Powder Room. They sat on on the plush green velvet stool and she faced the vanity in her stark nakedness. She wasn’t sitting there for long. The group of women was all dressed in the same maid’s outfit. A plain black dress and dark blue apron. Their skirts fell to the floor and their necklines were up around their chins.
Euphoria was pushed into a dressing room behind a screen. A scene of horrific splendor was painted on the paper folds. A woman lie motionless on a bed. She wore a white dress like Euphoria was soon going to, except the skirt was clinging to her legs in its wet heap. Her brown hair was fanned out over a pillow as some unseen force put her there. She was soaked through and through. But what caught your eye was the blood trickling down her neck. Euphoria didn’t see this. She was being forced into the dress with less than gentle hands. They pulled it up and tugged it, pinning it in the back so it pushed the white breasts forward as if they were to introduce themselves without her help.
Euphoria was taken prisoner again. They took her white arms and lead her back to the vanity table. Her transformation was about to begin…
Euphoria’s crimson hair was twisted and curled into an angelic spiraling mass of a crimson twist. Two spirals hung in the front of her face. They had somehow put thin silver highlights in between fine pieces of hair. The make-up was done in record time and they let Euphoria take in her new appearance for a few minutes.
An epitome of angel stared back at her reflection. Euphoria was scared at the resemblance between her and all the pictures of angels she had seen over the years. She didn’t know what to think. Her metallic jade eyes were subdued in a humble almost shockingly saintly light. Her cheeks were the pink of a sunset on a perfect fall October day, her eyelids were painted with the glittery whiteness of one of Heaven’s clouds, and her lips were a crimson color. Euphoria shivered at the color’s resemblance to blood as it reached the heated wound on top of the skin.
~*~*~
Euphoria was led into a ballroom full of strange beings and people that she had never laid eyes on before. Euphoria swallowed past the lump in her throat and the diamond silver choker literally choking around her slender swan-like neck. She was immediately followed by one of the maids. She was led by the arm as if she were a child. Euphoria didn’t know whether she should risk escape or trust the woman leading her God knows where. Euphoria frantically tried to think of what to do. There were no obvious exiting doors, and she didn’t trust this…this… this horror of a mansion.
She tugged a little on the arm, but was ignored. Euphoria began to swing her head frantically looking for an exit. Her eyes met a pair of amethyst orbs and she saw the one thing that the others had been lacking: compassion. Euphoria tried desperately to convey her message of fright to the stranger in a last attempt at human contact.
The maid led her through the slowly parting crowd. Euphoria was well aware of the strange looks that she was receiving from the different and unfriendly looking faces. Euphoria held bace fee fear. She swallowed her fright, but she couldn’t hide her shaking hands.
They stopped. The maid immediately left her side, and Euphoria stood alone. Now the fear reined free. She kept her face composed to her credit, and hid her trembling hands behind her. There were those maliciously and wicked tempting blue eyes that set off a beautifully cruel face, with a sinfully alluring smile that was coming across a pair of full lips now.
Euphoria felt the horror in her heart grow. She heard a swishing of a trench coat behind her, and there were those amethyst eyes again. She looked over at the stranger. If the man in front of her was wickedly handsome and all things sexual, this one was strength and tenderness. She found a strength in him and seemed to lose some of her fear.
Euphoria looked at the man in front of her, and suddenly noticed the women sitting near him. They looked at him with smoldering eyes. She didn’t blame them. Euphoria felt something wake up inside her. Desire raised it’s heatrow row and she felt a weakness in between her legs, but Euphoria looked over at the other man who had taken off the black trench coat and was now standing there in his bluish silver shirt that loosely fit in trim upper physique, and black pants that covered most of his black shoes. His black hair was pulled back in a ponytail at the nape of his neck and he looked from Euphoria to the sinner surrounded by alluring women.
“Well are you going to tell her?” The amethyst-eyed man asked him. The other shrugged his shoulders lightly.
“Why not?” He said in a clear tenor that could have easily hypnotized Euphoria if it had not been for the stranger standing to her right.
“I am Xadrian and this is my home. You will find out your purpose later. For now, you will stay and enjoy the party, with someone to watch you of course.” Euphoria didn’t know what to say. Those purple eyes narrowed slightly.
“I will be her guardian.” He offered to Xadrian. There was an uncaring shrug and Xadrian left Euphoria and walked away. Euphoria froze for a moment, but the young man put a calming hand on her shoulder.
“My name is Zareb…” He didn’t seem to know what else to say.
“Thank you.” Was all that Euphoria could whisper. Zareb smiled.
“You are wise, but you will see why later… For now I think we should leave here. It would be better for you.” Zareb took her hand. Euphoria had no qualms about taking it. They went into a smaller ballroom away from the crowds. Euphoria took this moment to face Zareb.
“Is this a dream?” She asked softly looking around in wonder at the elegance of the room. Zareb frowned.
“No. You are here for good.” Zareb informed her lightly. Euphoria looked frightened for a moment.
“Don’t be fearful. I won’t let anything happen to you.” He promised almost letting the tenderness come into his voice. Euphoria liked pleased and her cheeks flushed for a moment. She looked around at the room.
There were diamond chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Their diamond arms hung low, but not touching the floor. There were three huge ones that were evenly separated across the wide and high ceiling. The ceiling was a shimmering gold color lined with emeralds and pearls. The floor was white marble and diamonds were embedded in some of the tiles. It was empty of furniture at the moment, but its beautiful grace took your breath away.
“This house is… magnificent… and yet…”
“Horrible?” Zareb finished for her. Euphoria nodded the curls dangling below her chin.
“Are you related to…?” She began.
“Yes… distant cousins.” He finished flatly. Euphoria looked over at him and smiled.
“You’re so different.” She observed feeling somewhat stupid once the words were out in the open. Zareb smiled.
“I’m surprised your eyes sought me out. All eyes are usually searching for Xadrian.” Zareb finished with a hint of bitterness. Euphoria shivered at the thought of the ice in the blue eyes.
“Why? His eyes are so cruel.” Euphoria murmured. Zareb glanced at her for a minute.
“You don’t find him desirable?” He asked. The blunt question caught her by surprise. Euphoria frowned and glared at him.
“If you consider cold-heartedness attractive then sure why not.” She answered sarcastically. Zareb gave her a smirk.
“Sorry for asking.”
A swishing of skirts entered the room. Euphoria brought her emerald eyes up in a light annoyance, as they set themselves on the group of maids. Euphoria stood slowly.
“Don’t you dare yank me by the arm again. I am quite able to walk on my own thank you.” She growled. Zareb bit the insides of his cheeks to keep the smile from his face. He also stood and placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked up curiously at the touch.
“They will show you back to your room. I believe that you are to have a bath before tonight.” His voice was vague, and seemed absent of the empathy of a few moments before. Euphoria stepped forward slowly. Her eyes remained cautious and burning with a fretful anger.
“Don’t touch me!” She hissed as a hand reached forward to take her arm. The women instead led her up the stairs, one walking ahead of her and the others passing behind her as if to make sure that she stayed in their sights. Euphoria gave a short “good-bye” to Zareb and was hurried off up the winding staircase. Zareb watched until her sl for form disappeared in the darkness of the darkening afternoon. He ignored the pang of guilt that seemed to envelop his soul, and walked out of the room, determined to forget about Euphoria for the moment. He was not hers to think about besides...
