Tragedy is exceptionally difficult to write, and especially difficult to remain fair to the characterization you have established to each character in the face of that tragedy. As humans we want to make things better, and the temptation in writing fiction is to soften the blow of conflict in these pretend lives, pretend worlds. It is far too easy to wave a magic wand and give everyone a happy ending, to make it turn out the way we wish life (and our lives) would turn out. But let's be honest, no editor or publisher or agent wants a story like that. It wouldn't get a second read.
You've handled this with absolute grace. My heart breaks for Fox, but you gave him an honorable and brave end in the face of tyranny. You managed to capture the essence of who he was, to sum up in this chapter all that he accomplished, how worthy he was all the while of our love. In Nikita, foolish, brave, beautiful Nikita you give us a chance to shout at the tormentors, to accuse the wicked one(s), to promise their coming retribution. And we know, we know that it was a horrible idea, what Kita did, but our shattered emotions can cheer that at least someone said it all, out loud. At least the truth was spoken at the scene of unspeakable loss. And the gesture on his cheek, the symbol for family and love? Shattered me. Because Fox wasn't alone. He was loved, even in death. By all of us, and by Nikita as our proxy.
I can only imagine the fallout, but I know you will handle it with the same beautiful precision which guides all of your writing. Bravo on being true to good and evil, to your story, to yourself. This moved me, and isn't that what literature is for? For all the reviewers who will swell up in complaint against this, I suggest a perusal of this site or even FFnet and others. There are hundreds of thousands of fluffy stories to be found out there. Do not mistake this as anything in the same caliber at all. If there were a more prominent niche for stories like these I would be pushing you to submit it myself. This is in an entirely different league, and it is insulting for the reader to rail against such a talented author with inane complaints.
It is supposed to break your heart. Literature is supposed to make you feel, make you think, change you. Fluffy bullshit doesn't do that.

Why. That's literally all i can think right now is why did you have to kill off Fox. I mean he's been a main character since the beginning even if not so much in this story. I mean I get it you want to write a realistic ish story and I loved the chapter but fuck. Like he was a favorite ever since ALoGaK and now he's just...gone. Fucking Cyril is going to commit suicide over this shit. On a more positive note (if there can even be any positivity in this story at this point): this chapter was written very well and had great emotion in it. I just wish Cyril could've heard Fox's last words...even though that would've been even more terrible for him to bear. Anyhow, how long was his death planned? Quite curious

I am so invested in these characters. I cried like I just lost my dad. You are so great at this.I have do something to make me smile now. Looking forward to lady glenning' s torture....sigh

I can't believe Mack died. I'm still in shock.
Sometimes there are some wonderfully written stories on this site but almost too realistic. In such cases I usually stop reading in fear of the horror I'd find later on.
When reading Emory/Nikita I felt disturbed. The relationship wasn't at all sane. So I'm relieved Emory now won't hurt Nikita anymore. I can't read stories that contain prolonged abuse: they are hard to read. Tend to be too emotionally hard to read.
Moreover, Atara kept hinting about something bad. I felt this doom and a sort of crescendo in suspence that made me wonder every time if I was better off reading or not the new chapter.
Please, don't kill Fox and Cyril.
Compared to the first story about Fox and Cyril, here, this installment is a lot more tragic, dark. And I can't be too sure it'll be HEA.

Oh my god what a cliffy I'm so glad for your fast updates it would kill me to wait weeks to see how this continues!!! If you really killed Mack I'm going to be really angry with you *glares*!!! But since I belive in your sense for a happy ending I'm staying hopefull!!! See you again tomorrow!!!!

Oh no are we going to lose Fox then?! But but they are the reigning power couple!! The best of the best. Oh noooo. Then it has to be either Kita or Fox and jeez idk which one to give up! Sigh! I'll keep reading on hope it gets better! So much havoc! I love Kita but I like Fox more.... Ugh but at the same time....grr I know you must do things for plot and realism but it still saddens me! Thanks for the quick updates! :-)
