Cruel to be kind...
At least Tito is showing the men who is in charge, whilst showing Duro his softer nature in the relative privacy of his tent.
I still think the little slave is in danger from Flavo, and possibly Sten too, judging by his attitude towards the boy.
One part of this chapter that I liked, was Duro telling himself that he'd have to be retrained if/ when he goes to his next master. He's not being optimistic enough to think that this is anything other than slightly unusual behaviour by the man that controls him at the moment, and I like it because it is far more true to what might be in real life. Too many other authors would have us all rolling in fluff by now. But you keep it real!
Can't wait to see how the next chapter progresses.

Duro is so slow sometimes...but I'm glad his misunderstanding doesn't drag on too long each time. I really like Tito.

Utt ohh... I sense problems ahead for the adorable little slave. I can't quite understand why Flavo was so unjust to the boy. Maybe he is the sort of person who gets a thrill from others pain. If that is the case, then I really do worry for Duro. Let's hope Tito can keep him safe. But knowing you, I think that is going to be harder than Tito realises, lol.
I really enjoyed reading this. And I'm interested to see where it goes. What happens once they get to their destination, and the men begin crowing again for the use of the boy's body? I can only see trouble ahead...

A very good start. Harsh master, young slave boy. You don't mention if he's pretty or not, but seeing another man wants him, I'm guessing that he is. Will be interesting to discover what fate has planned for him.

I love this. I like how slowly we get to know Tito and Duro, and them, each other. I hope that Tito will want to keep him. I can't wait to read the next chapter.

Oh my goodness! I love the little interactions they have. And I'm in love with Tito! He's such a gentleman! But I'm curious about "the other" person Pompey used to lend Duro to. Will he be a problem later?
