Chap 13- Uh, I love your review responses here. I’m coming back at some point just to read them. I am curious about Maggie- does she have the capacity to go back to being normal? It’s clear that she is more lucid and mentally capable of understanding what she is being told than a normal dog.

Well Troy says he doesn’t love Joseph now, but we shall see, won’t we? Interesting bit with Victor earlier, although I didn’t particularly care for it. I like Matt, or rather, I really try to and sometimes do, until he turns into sulky Joseph with 5x the angst.

That was a fun and interesting little tidbit. Troy sounds a bit like Tyler and more so like Ryan. Sheltered even though they’ve been exposed to the horrors that befell the slaves around them and not comprehending what their lifestyles really consist of.

Ooh, this was so good! Why is Denise so furious while Troy more or less, isn’t? What was going through his head????? Especially during, but also after? I see the creeds have some brainwashing elements going on. It’s a pity- the dynamic between Joseph and the twins was very sweet and enjoyable. And over. It’s interesting to see Troy slip up the way he did, snowballing but consecutive poorly made decisions. Did he not enjoy subbing for the three of them? Of course, to some extent he had no choice, but I don’t fully grasp the nature of the situation. Is something in their training an innate danger? Like animals that have a reaction after a certain point when they snap?

And did Curtis get adopted? How does he have parents? Did he used to be a slave?

Aww Aaron! Jeez he acts like he and Ev are Joseph’s parents. Possibly separated parents. Weirdos.

I skipped to the end again. I enjoyed the first vignette a lot- not the nastiness of it all, but knowing how very much Joseph was loved as a baby was incredibly heartwarming and unbelievable. And heartbreaking, because had James been given the power to raise him, or kill Anthony, Joseph would have been brought up in a loving home with people willing to die for him. Well, at least James... I wasn't as interested in the latter two, so I skipped them.

Chapter 35- Troy, you douche. Well this explains some stuff- for example, the Troy-Heath-Joseph hierarchy. Habits, as we know from this story and beyond, stick around. It was nice to see Matt bond with Vincent, and to meet Vincent here. Very strange to see how Vincent develops later on. The banter was a lot of fun. And as a belated note, it's odd that the twins are together but Troy and Joseph couldn't be. Is it only Troy's guilt holding them back? Is there a decent chance that they will end up back together?

Hahahaha, Mike always gets to Joseph the same damn way. Like clockwork. I skimmed this chapter before, so some things were new and some weren't. Well, depending on if I just read chapter one or not. I can't remember. I think that was chapter two. I thought Caleb was Mike's uncle!!! Totally missed that point. I remember Caleb being nice to Joseph, and vaguely that Joseph was playing with the kids there and hanging out with Caleb's family. Is Joseph just attracted to Mike, or paranoid/feeling obligated to have sex with Mike if MIke is attracted to him and wants something more? We don't hear Joseph falling in love with Mike (duh) so that seems more likely. Paranoia, that is.
