Love, love, love this story! :) It's so refreshing reading a new story that's so well-written with no typos, grammatical errors, punctuation errors, etc.
I really love the Jewish references; they are also refreshing! lol I haven't heard 'Aleinu' since my third son had his Bar Mitzvah almost three years ago.
You didn't mention though, that Ben and his family (does he have a mom? Siblings?), had to sit Shiva for a week, but they had to sit on a box, like a cardboard box. Yeah, really uncomfortable. For seven days. I can't remember the meaning behind that though.
Anyway...awesome first chapter. I'm looking forward to the next one! :)
