Omg, this poor kid. He has selective mutism. Was he silent his whole life? Did he ever talk to his parents? Holy shit! How the HELL did that lady (Cyrus' original ride), expect him to 'find another ride'????? Do you know how much anxiety that would put on a kid with SM? SM is in the same realm of Asperger's and autism. A lot of people with SM have social anxiety disorder also. Cyrus can speak; he just chooses who he wants to speak to. Obviously the meds aren't doing anything if he's still not talking to people he really should be talking to, namely his shrink.
Does Cyrus even know why he doesn't want to talk to anyone? So he doesn't talk to anyone at school? Jeez, that just leaves him open to be bullied, taunted, and teased (as he has experienced).
I really like Darwin. I hope Darwin can get to the root of Cyrus' problems. I'm sure they stem from his parent's abandonment, among other things. Shit, the poor kid is only fifteen - how irresponsible are his "parents" leaving him to fend for himself for such a long period of time? Especially knowing that he won't talk to anyone or ask anyone for help if he needs it. They should be arrested. Isn't that like child endangerment or something?
Another awesome chapter Niko! Oh, I noticed you switched from the first person pov to the third person at some point. It was just in one sentence. I think it was when the phone rang at Cyrus' house and the sentence had 'Cyrus' in it and 'him' (relating to Cyrus), in it, instead of 'I' and 'me'. Just thought I'd point it out in case you wanted to go back and fix it. :)

Great first chapter! I hope to see the best one soon, I have high hopes for this story and so far, it has been a great and attractive first chapter. How to see more of you in the future! :D

What a sad chapter. Poor Cyrus. No one should be treated like that.

Great start so far! Poor Cyrus =( hope to get more background of him like why he started cutting. Darwin seems like a somewhat mysterious character. I do hope he can protect Cyrus!
