I still feel that Dustin is extremely headstrong/stubborn/childish. He has to make everything difficult. A simple meeting is turned into a power struggle.I understand things are not done where he comes from, but he isn't there. I took a break from this story. Honestly I am finding Dustin growing to be someone I would dislike if I were to meet him. Someone that is unable to see things from others points of view is childish and immature. Burnout is spoiling him, if you were to go to another country and spitting on the sidewalk was okay but it was a major offense in another country you don't spit on the sidewalk to make a point that it should be your freedom to do so. I like the world though, and the intrigue of the politics. I just find Dustin so selfish, he hates what the Verlon represents, but mostly he is doing what he is doing is because he wants to leave (not for humanity reasons or for helping the Verlon). Even if he gets more rights for Verlon's it isn't like the things that happen change over night.

I have read other reviews, and the views seem to differ from mine completely.

Very happy to see this story again. Thanks for continuing
Got to say, however, that I don't buy Dustin's father's sudden appreciation for the mores of other cultures and Dustin's independence. The man's retoric in this chapter just doesn't match up with the guy he's been from the beginning. Any broadening influences on him would have occurred back during his stay on earth and would have been a lot more noticeable before now. I don't see character growth either. Really, really hoping you're not going to have Dustin develop some kind of respect for his father's POV that in some way mitigates getting raped. Please no "he was blinded by his upbringing" - Dustin's father is a specialist in alien lifeforms and spent significant time on earth in particular. IMO his stated beliefs rearrange themselves to suit his goals.

Of course that's just an opinion. Take it as a compliment to your ability to write an engaging tale.

It really makes me wonder who is trying to kill Burout! I really enjoyed this last chapter because of the some what bonding of Dustin and his father and I hope that Dustin really got that his father was in his own way trying to deal a blow or two to the one who raped him... I would love to know more about their society and what makes them tick! I look forward to reading more!

*chuckle* Dustin usually isn't so speechless...he really was surprised at having to talk in front of everyone...
