Yay you updated! Just yesterday I was re reading some of your stories hoping you would update and you did :D I was getting kind of worried that you didnt update in a while and thought maybe something bad happened in your personal life but guess I was wrong, hope you get over your writers block too^^
And I might and I really felt bad for Colan in this chapter, so sad:(

I admit that this started off a bit slow, but it really picked up. I love Colan (and he's unlike some of your other characters in the past). He's spunky, that's for sure. It's amazing how well you capture his inner conflict: he wants to rebel so badly, but it doesn't help him in the least when he does. He also doesn't want to admit that he's afraid of Vasco. I really admire him, though, because he cares about his friends' well-being (and even despite Mist being a super jerk). I'm glad we got a closer look at another side of Vasco in this latest chapter. He seems to really care about this Rio guy. I want to know more about their relationship... and how Colan is going to adapt to this new life. Vasco's right: he does have food and warmth, but is that better than freedom?

Thank you so much for the update! This chapter came just in time, today is pretty much going to suck and I was looking around AFF when I noticed the new post. Another chapter of my favorite fic is just what I needed. Thank you for making today a little more bearable.

I love the world you've set up, and just how different the Ignored and the rest of the outcasts lives are comapred to Vasco and the City Leaders. And how Vasco can be so apathetic to how bad it is. I can't wait to see more outside Vasco's rooms, especially since it looks like he might not always be such a bastard. Or is that just around Rio? There's so much I want to know! Keep up the great work, I look forward to another day brightning.

Well, he's kind but he doesn't have much influence on Vasco !
Poor boy... He's sick again...

Vasco's an asshole. I keep thinking, a chapter or two, he'll seem less cruel, less bastardly... but so far it hasn't happened. Yeah, he gave him something warm. But he's still stuck lying on the floor pretty much 24/7 with only meal bars (or just the one?) and a small drink each day. And he tugs him impatiently up stairs, when it's mostly his fault for how sick/out of shape Colan is! I mean, god. And then he has the nerve to act as if he doesn't deserve warm food just because he stole? He's a kid. He obviously didn't choose the life he has now. And shouldn't all the punishment he's had to suffer make up for the stealing? Apparently not. He doesn't treat him human at all; just dirt. It's so wrong.

The only times he's had any kind of redeeming qualities is when he finally let him eat, finally gave him something warm, and seemed *forgiving* for Colan in not eating his meal bar, just because it made him nauseous. I just don't get him. Obviously with how he is with Rio, he's not a complete bastard. I just hope we get to see the cruelty ebb towards Colan, who really doesn't deserve any of this at all (and then Colan can stick it to him because Vasco deserves it, and much more).

sorry if I seem all venty. I love this story and I love your characters. But Vasco pisses me off :/ I'm glad you're back and I can't wait for the next update (just, hopefully we see a less cruel Vasco in that chapter...).

And I'm worried about Colan's wellbeing. Is he only getting one meal bar per day, if that? And all that constant lying down/sitting can't be good on his body/knees at all. I keep thinking if this keeps up he's going to be so far gone in malnutrition that it'll threaten his life (more than it already has). The fact he had to crawl over to his place and fall down in exhaustion should be enough to Vasco to see how bad off he is... :/
