There was no Perry or Dres in this chapter but it didn't even matter because i love Carmine and i love Lacy. I like that Jude is forming a life for himself that doesn't revolve around Perry. Stupid loveable Perry. I hate him for torturing Jude like this. If it turns out that he realised that his best friend had feelings for him and he continued to lead him on like this, pretending innocence i don't think i can forgive him. I want him to be oblivious to Jude's feelings because if he even suspects a little that Jude likes him and he has just let the poor boy suffer in that awful limbo... what a bad guy. but dammit! he is still just so damn loveable! the way he was trying to cook Jude dinner! so sweet!
As for this new plot addition with Carmine and her douchebag abusive boyfriend, i like it! (not the fact that she is getting beaten though... obviously). I really like Carmine's character. She has a fantastic personality that really comes to life through your writing. Same with Lacy. Same with the guy in the second hand book store (who i don't even know the name of lol).
As for Dres... he better make a move soon!
As for Kitty. Even aside from the fact that she spends so much time clinging to Perry... she is just kind of annoying. Even though her personal tragedy story is pretty sad obviously. still. I am Utterly! on Jude's side when it comes to her!

I sure hope this Jonathan guy doesn't come home and Jude ends up getting into a fight. Unless the cops are called and the loser gets dragged off to jail.

Okay, so the story went like this:

1) Spotted the new chapter
Yaaay, it's another update of one of my favourite stories on aff! (ecstatic)

2) Reading
Uh, oh it's Carmine and Lucy. So, we explore other aspects of Jude's life - not only the romantic one. I guess it's great for building a more intimate, well-rounded main character. The more I get to know them the more I care for them, the deeper I experience their feelings and actions in the fictional universe. Good, good. (contemplative)

3) Reading (has just realized that there really is no Dres or Perry in this installment)
Nuuuuuah, no Dres? No Perry?? No UST??? Waaaaaah! (acting like a toddler who couldn't get their most desired toy in the shop)

4) Afterword

Even though I feel deeply wounded by the lack of Dres and Perry I am mature enough (yeah right) to admit that this chapter was great for giving us more insight into Jude as a person and the way his life changes. It seems that for a longer period of time Jude had pretty much depended on Perry to satisfy all of his social needs. Perry was his best (and probably sole) friend, his roommate and the object of his affection. It is safe to say that Jude's world was Perrycentric. It's good to see how he starts making place for other people and activities in his life.

I'm also very excited and hopeful to hear that you have already decided on the ending. Why? Cause it means that you actually do plan on writing it! I can't wait to find out more about Perry though. It seems to me that I understand where Dres comes from in this fic. A hot rich seductive boss as a potential romantic interest. Perry on the other hand? It is hard to believe that he has never noticed Jude's affection for him. Maybe he suspected something but was too afraid of losing Jude as a friend to bring it up? Ooooh, it makes me wonder.

As for the mention of villanous Jonathan. If this does not smell of drama I don't know what does.

an update, awesome. jude is really starting to try to get out on his own, glad about that. hes realized hes "clinging", and hes also 'tired' about how hes been living his life, which hasnt much because hes always been sticking close to perry cause he had hope that something would happen there romantically. hes taking baby steps, ya know, going out with those two girls, trying to make friends. poor carmine. ... i foresee a confrontation with jude knocking that guy out?
and theres attraction to dres too, so, looking forward to seeing jude take that step forward to initiate something, but he has to want it ya know. but hes got get over perry first....

The whole time Jude, Lacy and Carmine are walking to her house I was thinking, Jesus Christ, doesn't someone own a car? Or at least take a bus? She walks that distance every day? lol I'm just spoiled.

Ok, so Jonathan is an abuser who should be reported. She should press charges. Or is she gonna wait until she winds up in the hospital to do that?

And Lacy shouldn't be putting Jude in this type of position; it's not fair to him.

If the house is Carmine's and she's afraid to kick Jonathan out for fear that he'll really hurt her, then she should at least get a restraining order on him and THEN kick his sorry ass out.

He's gonna come home wasted and then all hell is gonna break loose.

I love how heart warming this story is. I find it so cosy to read.
I am so torn between which guy I want him to end up with. I am such a sucker for the classic childhood friend unrequited love turns requited type story... but then... smexy rich restauranteur pursues guy under the pre tense of cooking lessons is equally irresistible.
I love the characters, I love the plot and the pace of this story. I love the fact that you haven't rushed into it. I love the build up!!!

Oh my god! You ARE alive and here I thought you went and got yourself killed in a climbing accident in the Himalayas.

Some time ago I came across a rec for this story again and found myself thinking: guh, another good one bites the dust.

Therefore, I can hardly describe how utterly delighted I was to discover this update. Yeeeeah...

As for the lack of action - actually I love the UST. You are building the mood perfectly and I know that when something eventually happens it is going to be so much better due to the slow build up. Then again, you probably just want us to beg for it, don't you?

Anyways the message is clear: ME WANT MORE UPDATES!!!

I wanna know what's the story with Jude and Perry and the running? I don't remember the past chapters. Was Jude's past brought up?
