That's a wonderful story! I don't know if I like him or despise him!
Your characters are really lively and seem to be real ones.
I hope you'll find time to update!

Best story on this site! I am dying to know what happens! Please, please, please, please update! This story is so intense - it's not sappy and sentimental, like so many others. I'm checking every day!

This story is hands-down the best thing I've read on this site. Please update as soon as possible! It's so nice to read something that has real character depth and an edge-of-your-seat plot. I check this site for your work!

Goodness! I myself used to be quite a popular author here on AFF.net some years ago. I return, not very often mind you, only to sift through the overladen m/m and general trashy writing. And, what's this? I stumble upon this story, and immediately it entrances me. Never once have you broken Annette's character. She is 'virtuous', sullen, and quite a dullard at times, but she feels real in a way that's captivating; flaws and all, she is tangible for the reader. Derrick, a demonic lord is a personification of aristocracy, and here, too, you keep him in line, his character strong and continuous. The writing is lovely, though varied sentence structure would allow for a more fluid read -- also, contemplate breaking up the paragraphs just a little more. Readers' eyes are worn out with the overtly large, bulk paragraphing.
I would certainly say that I love the attention you pay to the central (un)romantic couple; however, it might be beneficial to bring in another. For example, the ball was an excellent demonstration of that. I do find the absolute repulsion, the sheer aggression of the 'elites' toward Annette too forced at times. A student of history as much as the next, it is simply erroneous to think that every single noble she encounters will vehemently despise her. Also, disdain comes in many forms -- try to vary the upper-class a bit more.
I was sorely disappointed to see that this was the last chapter! I do hope you intend to provide me with another quite soon; I'll be bookmarking you, which is more than I could say about any other fiction here. In this next chapter, I hope to see some deviation from Annette's unrelentingly sobbing/hysteric nature, and for her to use her obvious and latent capacities for genuine thought. It would be nice to see her do something --other-- than 'shudder' and feel ill at seeing him. It's simply not realistic at times. I think you're leading up to this, and I intend to fully enjoy the development.
All in all, fantastic work, dear.
