Hey! I just wanted to say that I love this story. I love the dynamics between all the characters and how it seems a more realistic compared to other stories of this nature. This chapter was a little different compared to the other ones b/c you paced it differently and that's totally fine. :) I like that time is moving by a little more. And the parts with Brennan and the box, it's so sad! I would like to point out one sentence that threw me off a little bit: "Heat radiated from my core, the dry burn unable to be healed from the warm flow of water even when Phil separated my muscles so that water would run over my abused orifice" I kinda found it didn't make a whole lot of sense when I reread it...maybe you should try to reword it somehow. OH and sry for nitpicking...your story is so good that I can't find anything to say about it.... T.T

Man, I ended up seeing this on a packed train. I so wanted to wait until I got home so I could read it properly but it was impossible to resist. I was kinda afraid that someone'd be watching my phone screen from behind me, then I remembered I live in Japan and hardly anyone can read English that well, and if they can... well, they deserve to enjoy Waiting in the Throes with me. lol

So, wow, another tight chapter. Here's my theory, then. Phil and Al met at some sort of S&M/BDSM club, and got on great when they both bonded over the fact that "safe, sane and consensual" seemed like an annoying guideline. Phil is a sadist and Al has a bit of a masochistic side - but I can't see Al as a sexual submissive at all, so I'm guessing they're pretty much a switch couple? Or they're both doms, so to reconcile the fact that they're soul mates from hell they decided to get themselves a sex slave? Am I close? I'm kind of obsessed with their dynamics, weirdly their little fight this chapter was the part I was the most interested in. I wonder why Al was so pissed about Phil shaving Brennan - Phil obviously has a lot of kinks that Al doesn't share but Al has seemed mostly ambivalent toward them. I get that they have predetermined rules about Brennan, but I doubt Al cares that Brennan's gonna be hella itchy in a few days. Anyway, this BDSM type mindset definitely shows in how they try to manipulate Brennan, by telling him he enjoys punishment and in reality coaxing him to be obedient. For Brennan, there's not really any way to win.

And yay for the most awkward upcoming birthday of all time, I'm guessing? Hope we get to see that, btw. Your writing about Brennan's psyche is so incredibly powerful. I about lost it when you talked about how he put all of his memories into a box, and is trying to ignore that box because it's too painful. And just getting deeper and deeper into a depression the more he loses his will to carry on as himself, argh, poor baby. I guess knowing that he gets out safely in the end makes it a little easier to swallow, but still. He really is losing and right now seems to be just trying to gather what shards of a life he has left - asking Al for something to do, denying the existence of himself before his abduction, it's like watching a trainwreck.

The only thing I'm a little bummed we didn't see was the direct aftermath of his foot being burned, since there was so much tension built up for it from last chapter. It seemed a little glazed over, and I know you've spoiled us throughout most of this story by minimizing time gaps and giving us every gory and awkward detail. Besides that, though, I understand the time gaps used now, since it kind of reflects how everything is blurring together for Brennan.

PS, I'm originally from Minnesota and a snowstorm in May didn't even make me bat an eye. haha, we had snow in May just last year. Bleh, another rambly review, sorry! :P Thanks as always for your story!

Like I said, NEAT! :D i love this story...but...er...I'm a little confused...so Phil and Al are in a violent relationship...O-O....I didn't quite understand what Brennan was understanding....XD

I really want him to break out now and get these two freaks good. Al and Phil's relationships now makes perfect sense. I can see how they might be manipulating poor Brennan even more too. Love the angst, can't wait for more!

Hey there, I just read the review from Jules and wanted to let him know that having a snowstorm is possible (though most often very rare but hey this is New England so yeah it happens)in the month of April and yes sometimes even May. I live in New England 20 minutes north of Boston and wanted to let you know that it is possible to have a freak snowstorm because I checked google and there was one called the April Fool's Day Blizzard of 1997. The most recent spring storm I can remember is from April 2010 and I had to shovel the mess so yeah it can happen, LOL.

Al is a masochist!!! This chapter was as good as ever. It's a bit late so I'm gonna review later.

It seems it wasn't the last fight between Al and Phil... things will get worse, I just wish they would leave Brennan out of it.

Ooooh, Maddox, you did it!!! Chapter 17 got posted just like you promised so huggles right at ya.

Do I detect trouble in paradise? Phil really pissed Al off by having Brennan shave his body, haha, didn't he? What kind of game is he playing? So, am I right or wrong but is their rather sick obsession something called Sadomasochism? I can kind of sense Phil and Al eventually turning on each other and it being their own downfall of sorts. Hmm, another interesting thought, but is it possible they kill each other so they won't be separated or die in a freak moment of passion due to an accident?!

Oh my gosh, they burned the sole of Brennan's foot with an Iron!!!! ~~~ cries and wants to hug poor Brennan ~~~

I am still keeping my fingers crossed that Jason and Brennan somehow end up as a couple by the end but will wait and see what you have planned.

I can't stress how excited I get everytime you update and how afraid I am to start reading the new chapter but can't stop myself.

I check every day hoping there will be a new chapter, and when I saw the update today i literally yelped!!! I got so excited, then I felt a sense of dread as I realized im probably gonna read about more heartache for Brennan.( dont take that the wrong way, this story is fascinating, its got me hooked and as much as it upsets me to read it, I cant NOT read it!!) I feel such empathy for Brennan, it feels like I know him personally, you are a really good writer to be able to do that...make the characters really come to life like you do. I too am horrified that they burned his foot with the iron, OMG how evil they are!!! Watching Brennan go through so many emotions this chapter was alittle sad. He is giving in, which in turn he's giving himself over to Plil & Al, but I really dont see how that could be avoided....his survival instinct is kicking-in. He must do what he has to in order to survive, phyically and mentally. I just hope he can hang on to at least alittle of his past so he doesn't sink too deep. The comment Al made to Brennan about Brennan acting out with Phil because he likes the punishment has really got me confused. Is this part of their plan, to confuse poor Brennan and somehow convince him of this? kindof like the power of suggestion or a form of brainwashing so they can mold him into what they want?
And the phone call from Richard, are they gonna visit?
