First, nice wordplay with the title.

I liked the narrative style as it mentioned the annoyance of a themed party but then gave some relief. It showed her ambivalence about the party so it didn't need to be said outright. You also did a great job of painting Karina as a procrastinator.

The way Karina gave up in the end was kind of a horror in itself, but probably because I'd be too desperate to ever stop trying. Hey, at least she'll have a lot of time to make up her mind about other things (while holding out hope). I'd be panicking! :O

Hahaha! That was great.
I love the way you use the western disbelief in magic to bring about the protagnist's downfall.
If expanded out this would make a really unique and fun short story.
