Can't let go of Ryaen’ne. I'm going to cling onto this story like Midaen’niel clung to him the day after the divination of Ryaen'ne's death.
I went into this chapter looking for more Ryaen’ne & Delaen’niel's sweet secreted torment or at least furtive adoration of each other but I found this adorable back story. I love little Ryaen’ne, Delaen’niel, Lnorien! It's ... to find to Ryaen’ne & Delaen’nie obsession was mutual since young was absolutely squeal-worthy. I mean who could resist baby Delaen’nie. Ryaen'ne was doomed from the the very beginning. I laughed out loud so hard when little Delaen’nie picked up on Ryaen'ne's meaning with a simple stare and turned to looked at the adults and purposeful let out "cries with big fat tears" so he could be let out to play with Ryaen'ne. This event led me to believe that Delaen’nie would have always act at Ryaen'ne's discretion. If Ryaen'ne wished, Delaen’nie would change the law so that they could be together. Delaen’nie would never do it for himself but maybe for Ryaen'ne.
As for Lnorien, this work explains perfectly his hesitation and reluctance in claiming his betroth. So mature for one so young. Am a little sadden about his worry about repeating history tragedy and what its eventual force on Midaen’niel's thoughts and actions. Oh well, had to happen.

Every time I read this chapter, it's always warm my heart. Ryaen'ne and his memory. Pity that he have to die so fast in the beginning. Hope he rest peacefully.
Well, I know now where that L'norien's weird complex about ugliness and his weird shyness for Midan'niel comes from. Really, For the sake of underworld, I couldn't think of L'norien as one ugly fellow. L'norien really has a long way to go.
