Okay I may be a little dense but considering the reference to Quax/Kanau fanart are they the end couple? I had really hoped that it would be Kaddor and Kanau and Quax while sweet would find his own someone special.

Very interesting story. I would love to know why Kanau hates his guardian so much. He seems to be closed off emotionally, kind of living in his own world. I imagine there is some reason behind all of this.
