Heartbreaking...
I have only been skimming over the last few chapters because I dreaded what Devin was becoming. I think the true fall started when he took the whip and tortured Zachary personally. Suppose I was hoping for a happy ending with AC but you pretty much outlined some of the problems that Devin faces returning.

as if the stomach butterflies you've been giving me with the last couple chapters weren't enough, now you had to go and make me cry! like a baby who's sucker got stolen!! that's just plain mean!!! *sniff sniff*
did you really had to be so damn cruel to poor Devin? making him fall from grace that damn hard?! and now that Victor is dead there's nothing they can do to truly stop him. the never ending cicle will just begin again when he's reborn; and the pain, misery and death won't ever stop... talk about goddamned karma!
...and where is my FitD new chapter?! *looks at Pesterme2 and pouts* no treat for you this time, I'm mad... you gave me butterflies, you made me cry and you didn't even give me another FitD chappy to chear me up! meany! *cuts Pesterme's socks toes, changes her sugar for salt, puts salt in her bed and unleashes the hamsters in Pesterme's storage of cookies* ;PPP

Devin, no, no, no, don't go in the dark side.
I agree with you, I so hope that this chappy act like a wake-up call.
It's difficult to see himself objectively.
And in the situation he is, he don't really have time to thing about what's right and what's wrong.
His dream was so sad.
If you don't save him quickly (before he put his lovely mouth in the horrible cock of this monster), I'm going to drop my kid on you arms for a week.........and you so don't want that... he is in his "NO" phase, it's much worse than being in *The List*... ho yeah, my little devil, go make pester crazy. OMG how I missed this story! Stupid busyness, bleh! LOL! Anyway, I'm glad you got over your illness so quickly and likewise managed to get these two chapters (and the one from Flaming) done so quickly! I'm actually rather glad I got to read these two together b/c there is more hope at the end of the second chapter (even though the "ewness" and "omgdon'tdoit" factors go up, lol!).
Also i was thinking about how Devin and Chris were at the beginning of the story and I can't believe how much they've changed already! It's so weird to remember that Devin was a nurse who helped out at a homeless shelter in San Francisco and that Chris had the whole complete dependence on authority thing going on.
OMG I hope the bindings placed on Devin aren't hurting his child! Same with the darkness invading his soul, ergh so creepy!
ALso, I'm still wondering what those three souls (Jiro, Chris and Taro) hatched together in their previous lives and what Chris' true power is, oh the suspense!
As for Zach's punishment...man, yeah he deserved it, but I like how you wrote it to where you really do feel a bit sorry for him, shivers... But then Zach talks and I just hate the little ass all over again! And now i see that the giving of Zach to Dev as a slave was really part of Ash's plan to keep hateful thoughts in Dev's mind at all times, so dark! And now Devin has a knife!? Oh no, I can think of several good and bad things occurring because of this...hmm
Even though I hate Devin's "caving-in" to Ashcroft (ew, ew, ew! So gross!) you have to admire his determination and given that he believes Jayden is dead it is so heart-wrenching! And OMG I was wondering what the fading mating mark meant, oh no Devin, don't let yourself be tainted!!!
Ew, creepy dream! Worst part was Jayden's skin melting off...yeah that wasn't a pretty picture, LOL!
Oh, no is the Auroran army going to storm in in Devin giving Ashcroft a blowjob? Oh, that wouldn't look good at all, lol! And OMG Ash is just such an evil prick, I really want him to get what's coming to him, but most of all I want Jayden to get there and rescue his beloved! Has the military already infiltrated the castle? I noticed that Ash said it was 12:30 and the attack was to commence at 12.
Again, great work and I'm on the edge of my seat!

okaei....
So, I get that 'quick' [ better than my essays ::P] explanation helps. as long as he doesnt turn compleletly bad then, this just makes him seem more human, more comparable too.
However, I think this chapter is slightly out of devins character.. mostly I was surprised by how much swearing happened!! I didnt think he woudl swear like that.
and oh no, the dreams, the horrible guilt dreams! I hope chris and sarah are doing alright though!!
