I feel like a chapter is missing and I'm lost in the middle of something.
So to recap, and try to understand. . .
Dell has two personalities (did I miss that in the previous chapter?) and McKenizie hit on Mark, who let McKenizie go home on his own (a 30 mile walk?) Couldn't he call him a cab and blow the cost? And now Dell has gone walkabout.
In the meantime the little story is the headline story and Mark has the guilts over that because who knows what will happen to that little journalist now, and Dell is still no where to be found.
The chapter concludes with Dell being found alive (although the two guys who hauled him out are surprised by this and the chapter comes to an end.
Yep totally lost. . . And I can't figure out why. Perhaps because it was out of the blue we hear that Dell was over at Mark's and that things just happened from there. . . and of course the prologue. . . the mysterious prologue.
looking forward to the next chapter - hope I get unlost. . .

Shades of the Wickerman and a 1940's Sam Spade story rolled into one. If you can keep up this pace and style without going off into questions with no answers, you have a great thriller here. Predictions. . . well whoever Dell is - he's a goner, and poor Mark, were you foreshadowing his death on the highway, or am I just looking for the bizarre out of habit? And is Dot dead or just gone?
I reckon there are going to be alot of 'deaths' before this reaches an end. And also an answer to who the mysterious cult is in the prologue would be appreciated.

Interesting start. Reminds me, at this stage a bit of Jim Jones cult, where he had them all take poison. . .. Will be interested to see what you do with this one. bahen
