I have also had this chapter in my head for years :-D I didn't realize Theo would kill him (although in hindsight I see that was really the only solution), but for chapters and chapters I would have visions of Theo beating him up with his jujitsu skills.

I really liked having it from Merrick's viewpoint - to know exactly what was going through his mind and seeing him associate Theo with safety really sort of brought things full circle for me. Merrick just has the best boyfriend ever. He was really good before, but this chapter just pushed him over the top.

I have to admit that last chapter I was afraid I might be hanging waiting for the meeting for months and wondering - so I was quite relieved to see this chapter. I think the only thing that would have made it better for me is if somehow Theo's shirt had come off and I could have had a detailed description of the fight. Maybe you are saving that for me for later.

I've reread the story and it's as incredible the second time around as it was the first. I love Theo and Merrick and I love the sense of authenticity in the town, the characters, and their reactions. This last chapter literally made me ache for Merrick and I look forward to the next one. Thank you so much for sharing your talent!

Well, this story had me a little... tense, by the end. Impressive.

I like a lot of things about this; it mostly boils down to your characters. You have a good Christian teenager who ISN'T preachy, an overbrearingly religious step-father who ISN'T abusive/a rapist/in some other way corrupted, being a bit of a nerd DOESN'T mean nobody likes you, etc. I particularly like the fact that Merrick and Theo have a very different outlook on religion and church and everything, yet don't campaign to sway the other to their respective point of view.

The only problem with your story, and I glean this from your own author's notes and some of the reviews, is the freuency (or lack thereof) of your updates. I mean, come on, I'm on the edge of my seat, here.
Is there any way Merrick can avoid this world of pain he seems to be in for? Maybe Martial Arts Theo will follow him and intervene? Charles will turn out to be a blessing in disguise? I mean, we're set up nicely for a generous helping of hurt/comfort, but... I think he's been hurt quite enough.

DO SOMETHING!?

you're alive! OoOoO!!! Yay for updates. I can't wait to read more.

I hope you have a chance to work on your other stories too, especially "How it is Now." I love Niles and Rylan. But yay for more writing!
