You know, I wonder if Charles isn't beating himself up now about leaving his brother to his own devices. Seems to me that he would. I mean he had good reason for doing so, but I know I'd be wondering over and over if I could have saved my nephew from those predators if I'd stuck around, and yeah I just wanted to protect my new family, but maybe Merrick's fate turned out worse than theirs would have been. Like, Charles has to justify that to himself all over again. Maybe even find absolution from Merrick.
I don't remember, does Merrick remember Charles from when he was a kid? If Charles cut off contact eleven years ago he probably does, right?

Oh gawd, this story is so painfully good. I just want more. Oh please please more. I'm so glad Brent is dead. Now I just want Theo and Merrick to be together and happy. Charles has turned out to be so much nicer than expected! It's great. I look forward to reading more.

What a great chapter - well worth the wait! Thank God Merrick's gonna be ok, physically at least.
The letters were so sweet and Charles is being wonderful to Merrick.
Merrick was funny with Amy - poor thing, her second day and she has to interview Merrick. lol
Can't wait for the next chapter. Maybe it'll come soon, yeah? :)
