You know I'm always sad to see your fics end... but I'll really miss this fic-I'd hope to see things settled a bit happier-I'm going to hope Phidias has his child well and that the carriers will be ok; thanks for sharing!

It's over?! I really want to know more about what happens to Caddy and Phidias. Like who does Caddy end up with? and what about Henrik and Phidias' baby? Ahhh. I gotta know!

Roya: Thanks for the many reviews, and the depth of them - you had really awesome insight into the story. Also thanks for the offer of help - for sure, my Arabic is quite shoddy! But there are a few names and words which are odd, but intentional - Ghali being one of them. Ghali was given that name at his orphanage, and retained it as his only name until he was formally adopted by Anthony and Mahir - at which point, it became his first name, Duke being his last. And the Sahel refers to the region of Africa that borders the Sahara desert, rather than a specific place. And you're right about baba - I chose it because it's a common name throughout the other parts of the Middle East and Africa that have, in this universe, been annexed by the Emirates. Thanks, however, for the correction in diction on Seyyedi - I'll defer to your expertise on that!

Jae, Dekorx, bambi: Your concern is understood and appreciated - certainly, this story is both darker and more convoluted than November, and may be harmed somewhat by both of those. I'll endeavour to make clearer the connections between people in the future. I've, in fact, considered rewriting August entirely and removing the Sheridan/James/Harley/Soyinka storyline, but because we are so close to the end, I think that I'll wait and see how it all shakes out. If, however, you still feel befuddled by then, don't hesitate to comment and I may separate that storyline into a single-focus one, as I did with Ivan Kosin.

L.S.: Harley and James were married; this is why they had the same last name, and why Harley was eventually confused for James.

Oh my gosh, the suspense is (still) killing me!! Arrgh, are they going to turn all of the Dowthan men into carriers or are they just going to keep the ones that are already carriers?

Dunno why there are other people complaining about the confusing storylines and the numerous characters..I like that you have included the side stories of all these characters because it makes the fic more interesting since we get to see all these different perspectives. Maybe they just need to re-read the paragraphs or what not for them to understand the stories more, lol. Keep on doing what you're doing, Kabi!

I love August and the rest of the series so I hope this isn't taken as a flame. Lately, I don't know if it is intentional or not but it is getting rather dark and depressing. I find myself forcing my way through each chapter dreading what will happen next. For some reason I remember having warm fuzzy feelings after reading the first one. (July?) It is rather sad that Harley is dead and I am not sure I completely understand why it was necessary to kill him. I thought maybe he was the Witterbaum they were looking for and he had turned James with such disastrous results. But then when they killed him I started thinking maybe james was the James they were looking for and he never changed his name to hide out. what I can't figure out is what Dothan has to do with Wafra and how it presents a threat if everything they do is hush hush and they aren't exactly friends of the government. Also why is Sean staying put with Adrian when they see the gov basically holding them prisoners and beating and killing them off? You would think after they betrayed their own they would get the hell out of dodge instead of running to the enemy to become sitting ducks. Anyway it has been a while since I reviewed so I guess there has been a lot of pent up comments. I will try and be better about review more often.

This story is confusing. Too many characters and different story lines.

I really like this series, most especially November, and I've been reading it since the beginning. Though those characters from November that I really loved, I haven't really seen a lot about. I miss Jesse. He was really my favorite character of both series. Will we ever see him again? I like Caddy and Phidas too, though.

To give you my honest opinion. I could care less about the other characters most times. Not because they aren't good characters, but it's just too much to keep up with. There are just way too many of them, all with their own story lines that rarely intersect. I agree with another one of your reviewers, its just too confusing. Each chapter is a few paragraphs of several different stories it seems.

If I were you I would pick one or two of those characters and story lines and focus on them. It would make it much less confusing, and more enjoyable as well. You could always make several different stories in the same world/series.

bah, I don't expect you to take my advice, especially since you've been writing it this way for so long. I just wanted to be honest about it.

I still really hope Jesse will show up again! :P

I wonder who the guy named is-hope I haven't forgotten someone... hope Henrik and Phidias are out of danger and that the new business partner isn't going to cause too many problems and that Will and his family will be ok too... although Cadmus broke the rules, he might have just wanted a taste of his old life, but still can't totally sympathize given the outcome and how he was all for Carrier life when Phidias was struggling
