that is some bullsh*t!! Poor Phid. Who the hell is he gunna find in two months?! Hell... i'd find a way to sabotage and kill that bastard that hurt him. -fumes- He's just going through all types of shitz, and now he can't even resume his previous job! What's he suppose to do? Maybe he'll hook up with his friend Dr. Long i think his name was :o As weird as that might be, he'd be a more comfortable relationship for him to be in since he has to find someone in two months...
D: And what about Caddy!!! Oh poor Caddy! I hope they didn't do anything to him! :< And Caddy is so nice! He'd be a great momma after getting over initial shock :3 he's so caring :D
and what exactly is a skinburn? More description of it would help :3 cuz the first thing i thought of was a condom. :o
Thanks for the update!!! More please X3

I have no idea which book you are referring to haha but I'd say the line about consent to sex being a non-necessity rings of something Schlafly would argue: she often has said that there is no spousal rape- when you are married, you have already consented to sex. lol No-joke.
I'm so sorry i keep tying things back to feminism haha ^^; I can't help it!!! Please try and publish this!! I would buy like 100 copies of it too! haha

Oh wow. The last two chapters were very moving. I wonder if Cadmus really feels that way about the things he said to his father; there are some narrative tags that hint that he's just doing it to make a point and that he's just playing dumb, so I'm curious as to how that'll turn out. I also really liked when Adrian's parents started questioning Wick; it shows that they really care, and that General Mackenzie actually understands and wants to protect his son even though Adrian is a carrier. I wonder who Phidias will end up with. I read this story constantly tense because I'm scared of the bad things that might happen; each section always ends tersely and ironically and although the world is really horrible to the carriers--the parts where the lecturer asks them about consent being a non-necessity and Phidias and Caddy reading and absorbing all that carrier propaganda made me shudder and think about how easily they could be brainwashed--I still hope that somehow they'll be able to find a better way or something, overturn the system. Ah. And when the kids were doing arts and crafts, I was reminded of how much the carriers are treated with condescension; they're teenagers but they're given kid's scissors and assigned birdhouse projects like they're in kindergarten or sixth grade.
Thanks for the update!

Just wanted to put in a note to say Thank You to all my reviewers. Your notes and encouragement keep me writing and keep my writing fresh. Love you all madly; if I could, I'd send you chocolates. And in response to some questions:
- There is no set age at which carriers change, but it generally only takes place post-puberty, pre-climacteric. There's also not yet any way to predict who will change.
- Carriers can read books, but not anything they want. They are, in fact, encouraged to read certain books. A prize to anyone who guesses which one is referenced in this chapter.
- This is a social commentary, and frankly, every day I get a little more concerned that it's getting closer to the truth.
Other than that, thank you all for reading and reviewing; I hope you enjoy!

"under what circumstances is consent to a sexual activity a non-necessity?" who the f--- asks that?! Consent is always a necessity. If he actually gave an answer other than that, I'd have to find something to throw at him and would totally go off >.> -roars-
I'm happy to know that when a kid tries to kill himself, they don't think "Hm... maybe he really just doesn't want to be a carrier, now why would someone want that? Is it the way that we're treating them? Taking away their freedoms? feeding them propaganda? I wonder. Maybe he just can't handle the change and doesn't want to?" Just goes to show how clueless like all of the characters are.
But i love it XD
I'm glad Caddy and Phid are talking more, and I'm waiting for caddy to be heart broken when one of his friends or someone he knows [hopefully not Phid] gets raped [not counting Adrian] and has no say in the matter at all, then it suddenly clicks as to why Ashby maybe tried to kill himself. :o
And Sean and Adrian are cute X3 i dunno why, but i like them both. Adrian seems so lost and unsure, and Sean seems like he's just trying not to get on Adrian's daddy's bad side.X3
More please!!!!

That line about when sexual consent isn't necessary killed me. Honestly. I was like 'Um... never... not even in marriage you idiots.' How annoying. Though I am curious about that regarding the way society views carrier rights, because I know that forced sex in marriage wasn't considered to be rape until sometime recently-ish (I want to say the fifties, but it may have been earlier).
I'm glad Phidias was able to report that guy to his chaperon. That's a sign of the system actually working... even if it is still ridiculously flawed. I was happy that he was able to get away, even if I don't know what will happen to that man. Probably nothing, knowing the way your world works.
Ashby trying to commit suicide made me sad. Suicide rates are high among carriers. Shouldn't that be a tip-off of something going wrong? Like, a society that doesn't see them as worthwhile beings could be the problem, ya know?
Your world makes me so mad! I can't believe how enticing it is. It's those happy little moments and that bittersweet hope that keeps me coming back to your world.
Until Next time,

Ever captivating and bringing the angst... wonder what poor Ashby's story is? I find Caddy's indoctrination very unsettling ('he's a carrier, why would he want to kill himself?'), but I still believe he's smart enough to start questioning things soon. Phidias is going to have a hard time, and he's still so naive about the way things go, despite being suspicious. Or maybe he's just not very cynical or jaded yet... I find it weird though, with Adrian and Sean's relationship seeming quite happy now. What of the rape? If Sean can do that, he can't be a swell guy, and how can Adrian find any comfort in that relationship? Could he just put his former boyfriend out of his mind and play along?
