I think you should definitely continue. Though I know we all prefer our boys a certain way, its always refreashing to read something different than the norm.

I liked your story a lot and I would like to read more. Being an outsider, always, I believe I understand a bit of the boy's pain.
Please write for yourself, don't let others influence you... your ideas or thoughts are the most important thing [unless... for the contest you must follow certain guidelines or be disqualified ]if you enjoy what your write most likely others will too!
You need to decide what the outcome of the story will be, then write with your heart and soul to make it turn out that way, just so the story has a beginning, a middle, and end! Go for it... and Good Luck! G aka Cal
