I just got caught up on your story and I am enjoying it! I am a greedy reader and would love longer chapters, but I will take what I can get! lol Looking forwar to more.

Great start on the series...
I liked how in the very first chapter you said they were arguing over a strip of land, (I don't know if it was your intention or not) which made it sound as if they are fighting over an acre (or less). Its sort of ironic -- thousands of lives for a small piece of land.
In the first chapter you also use no dialogue until after the marriage, I think that was a great choice. It adds to the sense that Jarred and Branwen have no control over their lives and what is happening to them.
Thank You, Thank You for not turning this into a love at first sight deal. I've read tons of stories (a good deal of them on this sight) where after an arranged marriage the couple falls madly in love, have passionate sex, and get along spledidly despite their differences and the fact that they don't know each other at all.
Wonderful characterization as well...even though you never give a definate time period (or if you did I missed it) you really give the feeling by the way everyone acts of a middle ages warring kingdoms. Women can't read, must be virgins on their wedding nights, and men sleep around. I can't wait for more, so update soon!!!!

This story is getting interesting. I am curious how the husband got into the situation in the study and what he was feeling at the time. Why did he do it, and how did he let it happen (or get it to happen).
