What a wonderful chapter. Far Seers seemed so vulnerable. Such a contradiction. It pulled at my heart.

Ch 5 I missed a chapter. Sorry, although I admit it was a nice surprise to find two!!
Don't worry about the editing! I think everyone who writes here understands, we post here to improve! This particular story is so good, it would be a shame if you didn't fill in here and there.
So--- Charles, surrounded by idiots as he says, is a bit of a git himself. But it worked perfectly since FarSeer got the chance to try and save Terry and it is in his fierceness that his devotion shows up best. As I was reading I really got the impression that these were merman thouhgts, different, but not, too. It is one of the things I love about this story. You take us to this other creatures world seemingly without effort, we just find ourselves there and fascinated! How he looked at his tail and saw it as pathetic... talk about heart-wrenching. I wanted to return him to the sea, and give him his life back, but wondered.. even free would he miss his friend? So then I thought to have Terry go with him, but that would be a challenge to write. I'm just rambling because I felt so sorry for the blue tailed guy.
I'm glad the guard let Terry go. That was a nice surprise. On to ch 6-

ch6--- om-g, and I thought I didn't see something coming in the last chapter. Oh man, what possibilities this has. Seeing Far Seeer so helpless however, without his tail and teeth for weapons... diminishes him somehow. I did feel sorry for him before, but it wasn't the same. Can he revert back if he stays in seawater for a couple days? That would be cool. If he could change when he wanted, although it takes days, I know. Well, if he is now trapped this way, so be it, I did always think there could be no real love affair between such different creatures, and this is a slash story, right? Did you always know you would write him this way? I' m mad at Terry for not checking on his friend, btw, while he tried to commit slow suicide. He knew he was all that Far Seer had. And the prince, well, he's so busy worrying about what everyone else thinks, and his little power struggles and his father's impressions of him- still seems a git! I'm so stunned by this chapter I don't know what else to say, except dying to read what you have in store - I know this wasn't a cliffhanger, but it sure feels like one-
Such good writing, and such an amazingly original story, thanks lambent.

CHAPTER 6
He has legs now! Very nice twist. I suppose that keeping upright balance for walking would be Far Seer's big challenge.
I love this development and wonder how growing legs came about. Was it staying out of sea water for the length of time alone, or combined with separation from his little Kee-Kee. Or sun exposure? Because it seemed that Far Seer had no idea this could happen, so, turning human is not a common knowledge thing among merfolk. Does this make Terry his soulmate?
Being held a prisoner was possibly the most trying experience in Far Seer's life. But turning into another species would beat this by far. Very interesting how he will handle this. The strongest man would crumble :)
I suppose that he is still not completely human; the prince storyline is done well also, he is attracted to the mermen now, isn't he.

so I thought about it some more and really broke what I wanted to say into the few main points. First of all, I really can't stress enough how badass Far Seer is (that's a fantastic name, by the way. it's so out there, there's so much potential behind it!). Seriously, he sounds like total hero material. Stuff of legend and all that. Heh, just makes me wonder about the rest of the merfolk race and what they're like- if they're all as badass as him it sounds like all the cute human men are going to be in trouble!
Terry I haven't found myself liking quite so much, but maybe that's because we haven't seen have as much from him as we have from Far Seer and everyone else. He's something of a mystery, in fact- we still haven't seen his family or much about his previous life and development, whether he's naturally inclined to make friends or what his goals for life are- did he ever want to go beyond just being a medical assistant? That kind of stuff. The personal touches that seem to slip through with Far Seer's sections make him so much more powerful than Terry, so while I get that Terry probably does have a lot of redeeming features it doesn't really seem like he's had a chance to show them off. Plus he's spent so long cowering away from Far Seer, that he kind of pales in comparison, ya know? Sill, there were some parts where he does leave a lasting impression, like when Charles watches him play with Far Seer or whenever he starts trying to communicate with the merman, but sometimes I can't tell if maybe that's just because Far Seer's in the picture too. He's not a *bad* character, but I just can't get that excited about him when he seems to be so... I don't want to say incompetent, but... I don't remember seeing any part of him where he really shines, other than the few moments with Far Seer (which I really do thing deepens thier bond). I know so little about him that I kind of guard myself from becoming too attached whenever he comes back into the picture. I'm not saying that what he has done isn't all that great or anything, I mean, I thought it was amazing to see him try and make both Far Seer and the Prince stand down at once, but I still can't trust him to... not do something that just disappoints me, or soemthing. Do you get what I mean? Heh, I just don't know him enough, I guess, and I know Prince Charles even less!
So, yeah, I think that if I have any complaints, it's because you don't give enough detail about everything you could. I really want to know so much about this world that Far Seer and Terry live in! It sounds very magical, and I can't help but wonder what the rest of the world thinks of whatever kingdom they're in finding a live merman! Especially what this means for the merfolk race, heh, I worry that maybe other greedy humans are going to go after them too. I hope they're all okay and that's not happening, they sound way too cool for that to happen. But yeah, if there's one thing that I think needs to be a little worked on, it's probably that after 5 long chapters I still know so little! And it's even worse because I still want to know *more*! I really hope you end up continuing this, it's such a fun read, and Far Seer is so compelling that I can't help but get sucked into his story.

oh wow- this is so fantastic! I think it starts off where you twist around the whole "captured merman" thing and turn him from a victim into a predator. honestly, I can't stress enough how much this story thrills me! you turned "the little mermaid" into a deep-sea predator! haha, wow, wow wow wow. I'll start off with one of the most powerful images from the story, the part where the prince stumbles back from the water picturing the merman lumbering after him, ungainly, but as deadly and quick as a crocodile. I mean, geez, holy shit! the mental image of Far Seer hauling himself out of the water, moving unbelievably fast despite his huge tail, much less the fact that he's hauling himself along with his arms alone- just wow. that was intesenly scary on so many levels! this is so great that I gotta stop and think about what else I want to say, so I'll end this here and add more later.
