Aw, you captured the angst so perfectly. Even though Jason is having a rough time of it himself, he still goes out of his way to care for another.
Loved the little interaction in the kitchen, with the other kids attitude towards him. And it was interesting to hear more of Jason's sad and sorry past too. That Jonathan has a lot to answer for.
Just a little amendment advice.....
“I know. You don’t have a choice though.” I said sadly and just held him while he sobbed, rubbing his bag (back) gently. I whished (wished) I had someone to hug me

Why is this Steve being nice all of a sudden? There has to be more to it than simple niceites.
Aw, I hope little Tristian is alright too, although, he sadly seems to be acclimatizing to his dire new life. But its always sad to lose a friend when you're all alone like that.
