Yay! Another story! I don’t know how I missed this when you first posted it, but it’s a great start though!

Cassandra seems like she has had such a rough life, she obviously loves Maudie and the girls though. I think the setting is fascinating as well, post war England sounds so intriguing!

I’m curious about Sir Peter Gray. Why was he knighted? Is he a war hero? What has drawn him to Cassandra?

And Cassandra is an interesting character too, making the ultimate sacrifice. Will she ever love Sir Peter or will she become bitter? It’s an interesting premise.

Anyway great start!! I’m so thrilled to see another story by you and can’t wait until you update.

Wow, Evie, this a wonderful start and setup for your new story. I love that you've already given some convincing, interesting backstory for both characters, and of course I'm a sucker for period detail.

I'm guessing Cassandra is going to pay somewhere along the line for her ill-mannered rejection at their first meeting - and he was pretty harsh over the smoking! More or less everyone, man and woman, smoked around that time.

Well, I can't wait to hear more of her adventures, and how she gets to know (and love?) this damaged, repressed man. Great work xx.

Most stories I read the girl likes the guy as well, it's harder to write a story like this- so most people don't! I'm so glad you have!!!
