I have to admit -- when this story first came, I was not a fan. It was wonderfully written but... well, a black-fur-covered/skinned, winged, taloned love interest just wasn't my thing. While I like fantasy, I tend to stick with human-on-human action. Or at the most, vampire-on-human. That, and I'm not a big fan of sex right off the bat. Not like that is a criticism of this story or your writing in any way. I know a TON of people love when it gets down to the good stuff right when the characters first meet. It's just not MY preference... even in fantasy, I still kind of look for normal, real life elements and, "hi, how are you? let's screw," just doesn't seem at all feasible on ANY plane of existence for me! lol
So I read the first chapter or two and didn't come back to the story. But just this morning I saw it on the front page again and read all the wonderful reviews for it and thought that any story with THIS many great reviews HAS to be good. So I gave it another try... and I've made a complete 180.
I absolutely LOVE this story!! It's just wonderful. So wonderful that I can ignore the odd, somewhat bothersome image of Ethan sexing a gargoyle (lol, sorry, that's the first word that pops in my head to describe Fen -- I'm CERTAIN he's far more attractive than a gargoyle! Just with the wings and talons and... yeah...). Keep up the awesome work. You're an excellent writer & each chapter gets me more and more hooked in.
I can't wait to hear the real back story of Fen. Is he going to share ANYTHING about himself ANYTIME soon??

okay for statrters your writing is so full of young passion.Which is awesome.also i love the way you write about how ethan went through his insane despair.Infact i was a nutyy despressed person too but my boyfriend helped me out of it!Okay i uh dont have much time but i wanna say that your writing and imagination EVERYTHING is beautful.thanks for making my day lol! oh ya update

...I really wonder how Fen will be when he wakes up? I doubt that he'll be mad but... I don't know, Fen's a really special guy! I simply can't imagine how he will react for sure! ^__~ LOL Oh well! I'll just have to wait for the next update and hopes he wakes up! :P

I was just thinking of this story today while I was in class... and when I got home a little while ago and checked YAY! you had updated! I loved this chapter! I really enjoy reading about Ethan and Fen and I loved your last chapter (which i think i forgot to comment on...*blushes*) Ethan's personality is pretty awesome! Ethan and Fen are such a cute pair! I can't wait for your next installment....hopefully Fen will wake up....
I loved how in this chapter Ethan kind of got a sort of confidence about him...This and last chapter were soo touching...By the way I can't wait to see what Fen does when he wakes up...:P

Amazing update, good job, its good to see Ethan feeling better about himself and his feelings for Fen. I was happy to see him take charge and thinking clearly now perhaps for the first time in a long time. In addition, I am happy that he has made peace within his own soul and realizing that it is ok to move on and have a life. I laughed when he was trying to get Fen into bed in the new room he moved him too, I can just picture little Ethan trying move mountain Fen, so cute. I hope Fen will not be too upset with Ethan’s suicide attempt, just have him give his mate a good spanking and I am sure he will not do it again. But I suspect Fen might be angry with him, considering what he had to do to save him and putting them at risk to be found out by whoever is chasing them. Now ok are you going to tell me what kind of creature Fen is? I am dying to know, it is driving me crazy. Hummmm maybe you should hold a contest to see who can figure it out? Oh what a teaser that would be, but you are going to tell me right? Please, pretty please? Ohhhh I am so excited to find out what will happen when Fen wakes up. One more thing, I also liked you how you made Ethan so shy when dealing with other people when he left the room, he has kept himself so isolated he seemed like a small child discovering the outside world; it was very endearing and somewhat sweet.

god i am so in love with this fic. i hope fen is okay and there isn't too much heart ache when he wakes up. poor ethan had hit his bottom and has been through a lot. they deserve to be happy with each other!

This was absolutely amazing. It really was beautiful, and it's hard to believe that anyone wouldn't keep reading after this.
Admittedly, I was really worried about where you were going to go with Ethan and his "buzzing" and how messed up he got, finally hitting rock-bottom. And yes, he was a little bit melodramatic-y, but intellectually, it really all makes sense. Anyone who is depressed is angry, at themselves and at the world, and it tends to come out in the worst ways, usually directed towards the person/people who love the depressed person most, because those people are less likely to cut and run.
The sex in this chapter was nothing short of genius. I don't know of too many authors (as in, I can think of one other one), who could put smut into a chapter so full of emotional turmoil and make it really work. It didn't feel cheap or nauseating...it was just nice.
And the suicide attempt was really well done, too. From all that I know about suicide, Ethan's actions were pretty true to the world. The fact that he wasn't thinking clearly was definitely established; that, combined with the ubiquitous fact that he feels like his every breath is an abomination (gotta love survivor's guilt -- it's a horrible thing to live with), I really think you executed his suicide attempt very nicely. Selfishness doesn't enter into it, I think, at that point -- Ethan was just too far gone to consider how his actions would affect Fen or anyone else in the universe. The only thing that mattered was making the pain stop. This was all beautifully conveyed.
I also wanted to let you know how much I loved what you did with Ethan's family. That entire section of the chapter was so beautiful that I actually got all teary-eyed (and I am a total bitter cynic, so that's no small feat). The portrayal of Ethan's family was ideal -- and was a wonderful glimpse into what Ethan lost and why it shattered him so completely, even barring all of the subsequent horrors he faced. The way that scene played out was the perfect balm for the rest of the chapter and all of the agony Ethan has gone through in prior chapters. Even the characterizations were perfect -- his mom was just so perfectly and sweetly motherly, without being weird and sitcom-ish, and his father and brother were masculine without being brutish or one-dimensional.
The end of the chapter was amazing as well. Fen is just a wonderful character -- and I like the fact that he's so absurdly careful with Ethan. It works, considering the fact that he knows pretty much everything about Ethan, and has to constantly watch his step to keep Ethan from wigging out. The two of them are really perfectly suited...Ethan needs someone who's that impossible to get rid of, and Fen needs someone who is...well...adorably unstable enough to accept whatever he is. Plus, it was just beautiful the way that Fen saved Ethan and then vice-versa. I am dying to know what will happen once Fen wakes up.
I'm really looking forward to wherever you take this story and these characters. There are so many possibilities, and I trust you! As I've said, I'm here for the duration. Thanks for another beautiful chapter!

wonderful story! I like fen's love for him.. Bah I LOVE FEN! I wish I had my own fen ^^; Anyways, I wonder if he'll make it! Or be the same fen from before?

Lunar...you are an amazing writer. I have been following the Rooftop story for a few months now and you have kept me coming back for more. I can't wait to read more about Fen and his history...and what happened to his friend that traveled to Earth with him. Oh and what was the buzzing about in Ethan's head? Was it just his mind reflecting his torment? Just wondering...Thanks for the stories!
