Oh, dear, THAT is why he would die if not mated? It all makes sense now. I do like a way this story is constructed, there is suspense, but not overly excessful.
Their second time was pretty hot. Now there is an explanation why Max is so turned on by Kasan. Too bad that poor human stil is not aware of his position:)

::outrageously amused:: Kasan's brothers sound disconcertingly similar to my own family....
I can't even begin to fathom the terror that stole through Max when accosted by the various family members; to feel so utterly helpless....Kasan's subsequent raging made me smile and wonder how he might clear this incident up. I apologize for the harried review, you caught me going out the door.

I can't belive that Kasan would freak out so bad after hearing it was the "First Night" joke, but guess thats protecting ones mate for ya. Hopefully both him and Max will be feeling much better in the morning ;)
