hello Sonny, hello Ais,
I just finished reading the first book of ICoS and you had me hooked right after the first chapter. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that you both have phenomenal talent both at writing the story and of course defining the storyline. It's so powerfully written, it's one of the best stories I've read for awhile!!
At first Boyd doesn't seem to have a personality at all and Sin just doesn't care at all. I love that none of them are perfect, that they are all doing mistakes all the time - I guess that's what makes this story so authentic and emotional thrilling. And of course the action parts of the story are exciting too. My favorite is the mission where Boyd thinks he's goning to be killed, because Sin won't show up.
And then the scene where Boyd tells Sin that he loves him. He says it like he's talking about the weather but simultaneously it's reallygut-wrenching, because it's so honest and simple.
But anyway, now that I'm finished with the first book I'm kind of stalling to read Book two. Sin and Boyd finally realised that they both care for each other and they even got some free space. They kind of derserve a time-out :) But I'm sure there's some more trouble waiting for them (and not only based on missions form the Agency), with Sin feeling like it's not even his own body. That begs for trouble....
Anyway, I'm sure I'll start reading the second book soon enough. Maybe I read the one for Gordon first. Well, thank you both again for this wonderful story! :)
PS.: sorry for any grammatical gibberish, english is not my native language.

First I just would like you to know you now officially have another fan of your work. This book, like many other readers have commented before, is one of the most technically detailed, descriptive, and character true works out there. I was in such a trance to keep on reading that it was literally physically uncomfortable to stop reading.
Your vast range of characters is so interesting. This specifically directs to your introduction of a mix of different characters with different heritage, language and cultural backgrounds. I am ethnically Chinese and I can read, write and speak fluent mandarin. Thus I have a very strong fixation with Sin, or Hsin, who has a Chinese background. From Ais short bio on your website, I learned that she is interested in translation and languages. Based on that, I am curious which Chinese character is Hsin? I presume that Hsin equal the mandarin pinyin of Xin. And since Hsin was raised in Hong Kong, would it be more likely that he speaks (also) Cantonese?
Building up to the eventual climax (in this book) of Boyd’s and Sin’s relationship is an exhilarating process, if not sometimes a bit frustrating. Both of their personal problems are so complicated and deep, both of them are affected and hurt deeply by outside circumstances during their impressionable age that it was almost painful to watch them dance around each other yet bounds away. You created a reasonable path to how they eventually ended up together, even though they rage against themselves and each other. They are like magnets; they could repel or become irresistibly attracted. The imperfections of the characters make them that much more real, and make me ache for their reconciliation when shit happens.
I am moving on to the second book of the series. I regret that I was not aware of your works earlier as I stumbled upon your work by chance. But I am semi relieved that I won’t be left hanging since the book was already completed. Looking ahead, I’ve noticed that you’ve encountered a road block on the completion of book 3. Although I am far from reaching that point, I hope that you can overcome that and continue to write this great series.

First of all I want to say that you two are some of the best authors I have come across and this particular story is one of my favorites. However, with that being said, I have to admit that I liked the original story better than the revised one. Some of my favorite scenes just aren't as exciting anymore. To me it almost feels watered down a bit. I guess if I had never read the original I would love it but I don't know. I liked it better before. This revised one just doesn't have the same feeling that the original did. Now don't get me wrong, I do like the revised version, just not as much as the original version. Maybe I just became too attached to the story and seeing the seemingly drastic changes to the story line just threw me off. I guess it's just going to have to grow on me because I am not about to stop reading your work; it is just to freakin' good. I really hope I didn't offend you guys because that is definitely not my intention. I just thought I'd give some honest feedback on what I think about the new revisions.
Your loyal fan,

i was taken in by sin and boyd's world, and loved every minute of it.
i'm such a sucky fan for not reviewing until i finished. if you noticed your hit count going up by like 50 points, that was me. XD
i love this story so much. i found it after reading some of the chapters from one of the stories about one of the side characters in this story...adam?
but wow. you had me cracking a smile and pouring tears of sympathy with these characters. i cried so much during one chapter my eyes felt so puffy and swollen after. i'm not even PMS'ing right now and i was so emotional when boyd was beating himself up.
i love the plot twists and how you plant so much in such little things. i suspect that sin's father is still alive and was the dude from monterey and cahart is sooo onto that. XD
i loved all the characters. they all seemed so human. i am amazed to have found this piece of work. i think i vaguely remember the old title 'in the company of shadows' but i think that was when book one was still a WIP and there were only a few chapters up, so i probably didn't remember to check back for updates. but wow i'm so glad i read this story. it will make the adam story make more sense to me and wow wow wow i'm going to be thinking about this story for so long. it has really made an impression on me. i wish i were a super awesome artist so that i could draw you guys super awesome fan art. but i suck art that so here's a review. XD
you guys are so talented. i've read a lot of stuff on aff.net and this story is just on a different level of technicality, plot, realism, and even romance. i love the post apocalyptic feel and how real the characters and situations are, how they describe their feelings and how they react in conjunction with their backstory and personalities. i loooooove you guys so much for sharing this with us. god i'm gushing so much right now. but wow. you guys have me floored. awesome story. you guys are such stellar writers and storytellers. i can't really describe how happy this story has made me these past few days, every time i took the time to read a chapter it was so enjoyable. i think i even forgot to eat lunch once because i was so engrossed. you guys are just. too. awesome.
i love this story and i'm offically a sin and boyd fan.
