for Once A Slave ...

I must confess, it's been a while since I found a good fantasy-setting story, and I am now addicted to "Once A Slave", and blissfully so.
I did have my issues with this at first - for once, the first person narrative threw me off-stride in the very beginning, it took some getting used to. And then there are some typos... but well, nothing that cannot be overlooked. And as I said, it's one of the best originals I've read recently, anywhere online. And besides, the way your characters interact and stick true to their nature will make me forgive you almost anything, at this point.
I do like the plot twists, and Naeven of course *purrs*, and how Lark has a hard time doing things that go against what he's been taught as a slave, in spite of being a mage now... and well, Shaff is cute too, in an annoying kind of way.
So, I want more. Yes, I admit I am shamelessly stalking your profile page every week, in the hopes this got updated sooner, instead of being busy writing my own stuff. Bad me!
Um... is it ok if I review this in my LiveJournal?

Hahaha!
That was great! XD
All that smutt was greatly done and very hot. I enjoyed it very much.
And seeing Sactaren drunk was so funny.
It was rather sad, how Lark got all upset after that lovely little scence but I'm glad Sactaren sorted him out.
Ohh and that story of Sactaren's life was so touching. I knew he had a nice heart. Stupid villages.
I love this story. And you.

Sactaren is very like Howl for the book "Howl's Moving Castle". did you base Sactaren on him?

Chapter 19 -

Ohhhh - wonderful. Filling in so many blanks. I'm so glad to see Naeven has *reasons* for pulling away from the villagers.

Funny thing - I reread Chapter 18 last night - and *got* why Lark still refused.

Seems like all the mages have some pretty nasty problems...

Well that was an emotional roller-coaster if I've ever read one. I went from mortified, to delighted, and then from delighted back to mortified again. And then the ending...*smiles*... well that was beyond delighted. When I started reading this chapter I would never had guessed that I would be laughing out loud at the end of it. Lark's table, Naeven's strawberrys, the tale, the areas, the kiss and Naeven being drunk *giggles* and of course the striking finishing line; completely outstanding, all of it. ^^

I don't think I've ever reviewed this story. I really should of, though. I've been reading this story for a long time now and I've been meaning to review but I haven't.

I absolutely love this story. To the point where I'm hopelessly addicted. I LOVE it when you update. I get this giggly rush through me when I see Once A Slave... and then chapter whatever number. The characters are awesome and your description of them is amazing. Everything seems so real and so natural in your writing. I really hope you never finish this story and if you do then I hope you post many many MANY sequels to this.

I really liked this chapter and the development between Lark and Naeven;I feel like you're teasing us more and more with each chapter, building up to the climax (both sexual and metaphorical), but never allowing us relief. Call me a masochist, but I like the torture!

However, my only criticism for this chapter would be Lark's swearing. I think its the fact that I don't think the word 'fuck' goes well in a fantasy setting, as well as the fact that Lark doesn't strike me as the type to swear to explicitly that makes reading that part very awkward.

I can't wait for the next chapter!

this is definitely my favorite chapter by far... finally we have some important insight into naeven's past, lark's freedom (i sympathized with lark at that part because i was completely shocked too) and then the kissing! now don't get me wrong, every chapter is a pleasure to read and to look forward to and you write like a dream, but for this one you seriously delivered. and every time i think i might have an inkling of where you could be leading a section of the plot, i'm taken aback by unexpected twists and turns for the next update. i'm really in love with your story's unpredictability and the growing romance between lark and naeven. :) as always, can't wait for more.
