The only major error I saw was when Lark talked to Rayne, he talked about his master by name and not the false name as his supposed lover, Rayne didn't question him talking about him and using his name like that at all. Do you see how i'm confused?

Your story is one of the most amazing stories I have read. It is so well thought out and well developed story. I love the characters they are sooooo great and they are their own characters. What I mean by that is I have never read anything else (book or online) with your characterization.

I love the original idea you came up with. And to tell you the truth, when reading this story to me it wasn't about oh well their gay or well their straight or they are different, it never came up. This story focuses on human emotions and relationships, and overcoming fears.

Also, I loved the little animal Khabs (SP?) He was soooo cute, and I felt so bad that they injured him. As you can see, this story has gotten an hold of me. So when you asked if I would read this story if it was a book. Well yes I would, but I would be dissappointed by the ending that was it, but if I knew you would be releasing a sequel then I would be happy with it. Your ending was a good ending to have for the first book.

Anyway, I hope I made sense. I REALLY am looking forward to reading the sequel. I am wish you luck on publishing your book you have real talent and everyone should have an opportunity to read it.

oh my. it ended...for now... =(
It is a nice ending FOR NOW...but if i bought the book i'd probably scream and throw a fit that i didn't have the second book RIGHT NOW. =]
Because i'm already all geared up for the second book >_<
But i like your ending in a at-least-i-know-a-sequel's-coming sort of way but that doesn't make me happy in the fact i gotta wait XD Cuz i'm impatient lol~

I've loved your story since you posted chappie one >_< I was just a lazy bum and never reviewed...oOpsies~~~ But i've been rooting for ya since the very beginning and i hope so see the sequel real soon~~ And if i see your book in stores i will DEFINITELY buy it =3 Unless it cost like 40 bucks in hardback lol~ Cuz i'm poor XD

Ouch.

It was EXTREMELY painful to read the last chapter. It felt like you broke up with me.
:( Or you were moving to college and would be back next summer. Or a TV series that you love painfully that only airs in the summer.

Anyways...

That was the oddest ending I've ever read/seen/heard about. But that's your style I suppose. You like to keep your readers on the edge of their computer chair. And anticipating and lusting for the sequel. I mean to think that I read a whole slash story without there ever being actual sex but a couple of really hot hand job scenes and a kiss or two for 23 chapters? That's amazing. What an accomplishment for myself. I'm serious. That's crazy. And I'm not even angry! Because I love this story SO much that I don't care but I demand the sequel and hopefully that you get published so I can buy it and snuggle with it in bed. <3

But I would probably be dissapointed with the ending if it were a book and there WASN'T going to be a second book. Actually I would be extrememly dissapointed. But it's okay if you put 'Book 2 Coming Soon' at the end or something like that. But I'll be keeping an eye on your xanga account for sure. <3 <3 <3

*gasps* Is it really over? *stares uncomprehendingly*

What is really bugging me right now are the hundred loose ends. Like, when have Lark gotten enough time, and when is Naeven's patience going to snap?

But yet, it is a decent ending. I could compare it to Tolkien's Lord of the Rings in a way. If you would ask someone who had just read The Fellowship of the Ring and asked him/her if the book had an decent ending... well I think you would get very different answers to that. I believe some would say that both that book and this story has a crappy ending. But only because they are so desperate to know what happens next. So. Considering that you are going to make a series of sorts out of this, I think this ending is more than decent. In fact it's very good. *Good night, my Lark.*

About this particular chapter by the way; I think you really nailed this one down. I laughed my ass off while reading it. The little misunderstanding concerning Naeven's identity was great. I never could see that one coming. ^^

I have given serious thought to what I would want to be changed a bit. But the thing is, I cant think of anything. Probably there are a few things that you could edit, there always are... But in the end I think that, perhaps I'm to close to this story too, in my own way. See, somewhere during the process of reading this, I fell in love with this story. And at that point, all critical thinking made an instant exit from my mind. Sorry.

With Warmth ^^,

Lioncourt

I thought Once a Slave was a fabulous story. I would only be disappointed in the ending is I didn't know whether or not there would be a sequel. Of course, knowing that there's a sequel in the making just makes me impatient.

I thought Lioncourt put it fairly succinctly, where can be either loved or hated... although to describe it more thouroughly, I'd say that the reason people may dislike it (as was the case for myself) is that there's a hint of the continuing romance, but it's not... solid enough. It may seem cliche to have included a parting touch or even a kiss, but the point of ending stories on those is that it creates a far more hopeful image in the mind of the reader that everything will be okay.

And I'm not saying that it was a terrible ending or anything, if anything it was, like all the rest of your story, amazing, but that's kind of how I felt, and if there's no sequel I'll be extremely disappointed.

@19: This is such a well-written story, I could just roll in it like a maid in a meadow of flowers. Even though I'm not a fan of slash, there are one or two I will read because theey are so well thought-out, more than just smut, and this is one of them. Sometimes I imagine that Lark is a girl, yes, I know *sighs*, I am hardcore m/f, but for you, a bouquet of roses from me.

Your chacters are so beautifully intoxicating, the story unravels so smoothly. You must continue.

Will you please update on aff when you get the publisher's reply?
